LUDO Sports & Live Lounge is looking for a Junior / Student Sound Engineer to join our team and support live music events. This is a great opportunity for someone starting out in sound engineering who wants to gain hands-on experience with professional audio equipment and work directly with performers in the best live music space in town.

What you’ll do

• Operate the Allen & Heath SQ5 mixing desk during rehearsals and live performances.
• Balance sound levels for each musician and instrument.
• Work with performers and LUDO staff to ensure the best possible live sound.
• Assist with setup, testing, and troubleshooting of sound equipment.
• Keep things running smoothly during live shows.

• Designing and implementing sound systems for diverse live events and productions.
• Operating digital mixing consoles and outboard equipment during performances.
• Managing microphone selection, placement, and operation.

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Audio Engineering, Sound Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in live sound engineering and production.
• Extensive knowledge of audio consoles (e.g., Yamaha CL/QL, Avid VENUE, Behringer X32), PAs, and signal processing.
• Proficiency with DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live) and audio editing software.
• Understanding of acoustics, network audio protocols (e.g., Dante), and RF coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with stage management or event coordination is a plus.
• A passion for high-fidelity audio and live entertainment.

• Lead the sound design and audio engineering efforts for multiple projects.
• Develop and execute creative audio concepts and strategies.
• Create, record, edit, mix, and implement sound effects, Foley, and dialogue.
• Manage and organize audio assets and sound libraries.
• Ensure high-quality audio output and technical standards.
• Collaborate closely with creative teams (developers, directors, animators).
• Mentor and guide junior sound designers and audio engineers.
• Utilize DAWs and audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) effectively.
• Troubleshoot and resolve audio-related technical issues.
• Contribute to the overall artistic vision and sonic identity of projects.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in sound design and audio engineering, with significant leadership experience.
• Extensive knowledge of DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic Pro).
• Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and audio post-production.
• Proven ability to create immersive and compelling soundscapes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid remote/on-site model.
• Portfolio demonstrating a wide range of sound design capabilities.
• Degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

What you'll be doing…

As Channel Editor, Audio, you'll manage our ever-growing audio coverage at Tom's Guide. You'll write and edit reviews of key products, including headphones, earbuds, soundbars and Bluetooth speakers, while regularly updating and maintaining a range of critical buying guides to give our audience the best recommendations possible.

You'll also be responsible for commissioning content to both freelancers and in-house writers, staying on top of news within the category, and maintaining relationships with key product vendors. The ideal candidate will also be someone with a strong editorial voice and a true passion for the category that can help Tom’s Guide stand out with original stories and thoughtful analysis. 

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…

• Related experience at an online media outlet, as well as experience reviewing audio products.
• Experience managing freelancers and monthly budget.
• Experience researching SEO trends and analysing traffic. 
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
• Strong industry contacts are a major plus.
• Experience promoting stories via cross-linking and social media.

The expected range for this role is £29,000 - £37,000.

This is a Hybrid role from our London Office, working three days from the office, two from home.
