About the Role

As a Student Support Mentor, you’ll play a vital role in shaping young lives both inside and outside the classroom. You’ll work alongside our teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a positive, nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support pupils’ learning and engagement across a range of subjects and activities
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 or small group sessions to meet individual needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation through empathy and consistency
  • Take part in outdoor learning, trips, and hands-on activities that build life skills
  • Work closely with staff to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment
  • Help students develop social, emotional, and personal confidence every step of the waySupporting pupils’ learning and development across a variety of subjects and activities
  • Providing 1:1 and small group interventions tailored to individual needs

Purpose

Scholars School System is seeking to appoint an Academic Officer who can coordinate with the lecturer's schedule around students and support academic operations. You should be able to offer information on all enquiries (internal and external) both basic and complex queries from students and departments who have concern about students.

Responsibilities

To provide support for Academic operations, including the preparation of programming document and class management as well as effective liaison with the Lecturer.

To assist the maintenance and updating of databases (CRM) and ensuring policies are adhered to.

Carrying out regular student surveys and feedback to evaluate the quality and standards of live programmes.

To work on Turnitin reliably and fairly.

Maintain students at risk records with the outcomes of interventions.

To maintain CRM/VLE for assigned courses, posting material and ensuring the students have the required access to them.

Termly update of student records on CRM and files for audit purpose.

To take part in Open Days and Visit Days to provide information to prospective students.

Provide support and guidance to other functions of business, when and where required.

Maintain the safeguarding and prevent duties.

Ensure students are following the policies of the organisation, prevent strategy, ensuring safeguarding and health and safety of students like bullying, behaviour management and all rules are followed.

Must be fully aware of all published emergency procedures.

About the role
The Virtual School is seeking to appoint a new team member following the retirement of a valued colleague. The successful candidate will join a committed team of education professionals dedicated to supporting the learning and progress of children in care and those with a social worker.

In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for these children, ensuring the timely and precise input of data into the Virtual School’s information management systems. This data is vital for the effective administration of statutory Personal Education Plans (PEPs) for every child in the care of Gloucestershire County Council.

You will be joining a well-established and supportive team that is passionate about helping children and young people achieve positive educational outcomes. We are looking for someone who shares this commitment and is ready to make a meaningful contribution.

About you 

We are seeking to recruit an individual with strong administrative and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accurate data entry are essential for this role. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about personal development and eager to grow their skill set.

A collaborative mindset is important, as the role involves working closely with a team. While prior knowledge of school operations would be advantageous, it is not a requirement. The Virtual School offers a comprehensive induction programme to support the successful candidate in their role.
