Code4Drones' Drone Coding STEM Days provide in-school coding workshops to students across KS2, KS3 and KS4 (school years 4 to 11), teaching coding skills as well as promote STEM to students through the use of programmable drones in a creative, stimulating and interactive way. The Drone Coding Days provide students with practical experience in designing, writing, applying and debugging codes, enhancing their computer science and digital literacy skills. Students will complete coding tasks where they will use their codes to control drones along specific paths. More information can be found at .
Code4Drones is based in Loughborough, Leicestershire, but delivers Drone Coding STEM Days across the UK.
Code4Drones is seeking temporary , casual (1-3 days per week, school term time) instructors to support in delivering Drone Coding workshops in schools across the UK. In a typical Drone Coding STEM Day, instructors are required to set-up and pack all workshop equipment at the start and end of the day, while also supporting the lead instructor in the safe delivery of the drone coding sessions. Drone and coding/programming experience is desired but not required, as all training will be provided.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the workshop instructor are as follows:
- Assist in the delivery of the workshops in an engaging and safe manner;
- Support students through the coding tasks;
- Assist in the set-up and packing of all equipment at the start and end of each day;
- Assist in repositioning drones and changing batteries throughout workshops;
- Represent the Code4Drones brand in a professional manner.
Qualifications
It is desired that the candidate is based in Loughborough or the surrounding areas.
It is essential that the successful candidate:
- Holds a valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle;
- Is able to travel across the UK with equipment (with expenses for fuel, accommodation and food covered);
- Has English and Maths at minimum GCSE level or equivalent;
- Has excellent verbal communication;
- Is 18+.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience in teaching/education;
