Our client, a highly reputable and forward-thinking childcare provider, is seeking an experienced and passionate Early Years Education Lead to oversee curriculum development and educational excellence within their flagship nursery in Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK . This vital role requires a dedicated professional committed to fostering a stimulating and nurturing environment where young children can thrive and reach their full potential. You will be responsible for leading the pedagogical approach, mentoring the early years team, and ensuring the highest standards of care and education are met, aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and Ofsted requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate early years curriculum that supports all areas of learning and development.
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of early years practitioners, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments of children's progress, using them to inform planning and individual learning pathways.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is safe, stimulating, and conducive to learning, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Promote positive relationships with children, parents, and families, encouraging parental involvement in their child's learning journey.
  • Stay up-to-date with current early years research, pedagogical approaches, and statutory requirements (EYFS, Ofsted).

  • Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and future planning.

Qualifications:
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education (e.g., Cache Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education) or equivalent. A Foundation Degree or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Studies is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working within an early years setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical application of the EYFS framework.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective learning experiences for young children.
  • Excellent understanding of child development and effective pedagogy.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection matters.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification is essential.
