4Recruitment Services are seeking  a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Support Worker for our client in Sheffield.
  
You will be supporting a number of learners with a range of complex needs to access and engage with their respective learning sessions. As an ESW you will be supporting Post 16 learners on a number of Study learning programmes which include both vocational nationally recognised qualifications.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
 
  • Provide support to young people with High Needs by removing barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation
  • To facilitate the delivery of education programmes to small groups and individuals under the direction of tutors/ managers
  • To ensure that learners are kept safe at all times
  • To be responsible for ensuring that work undertaken within service area is conducted in line with statutory regulations and within Service Area, Directorate and wider Council guidance and best practice.
  • Contributing to the identification of the support needs of young people with High Needs
  • Being a key worker for learners as directed by appropriate managers, ensuring barriers to accessing learning are addressed including supporting bursary applications
  • Contributing to the speedy and effective transfer of information between services, settings and families
  • Undertaking initial, formative and summative assessments, developing personalised materials and strategies
  • Participate in accreditation processes as appropriate to the learners under the direction of managers / tutors
  • Work closely with others to achieve a full and shared understanding of the needs of individual young people and contribute to target setting as part of the EHC process
  • Providing personal care, first aid and medication as appropriate
  • Ensuring all safeguarding and health and safety processes and protocols are in place, adhering to LLS and policies and OFSTED requirements
  • Develop and maintain appropriate mentoring relationships with young people and those engaged with them
  • Offering peer mentoring and support to other members of the team
  
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs in a similar role or a transferable role.
  • A proactive and positive attitude, with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.

* Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or those affected by trauma or exclusion
* Strong emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
* An understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour regulation strategies
* Positive and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviour
* Knowledge of interventions or frameworks such as Team Teach, Zones of Regulation, or restorative practice (desirable)
* A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of disengaged or at-risk pupils
* Relevant qualifications or training in youth work, psychology, education, or SEMH (desirable but not essential)
