We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Educational Support Assistant to join a dynamic primary school setting, providing 1:1 support for children with additional needs.
In this role, you will be required to work closely with children who require extra assistance in the classroom, helping the children to engage with the curriculum and develop their social, emotional, and academic skills. You will collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure each child's individual needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support and work with small groups of children with additional needs in primary schools across Wakefield.
- Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit the individual needs of students.
- Support children with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and track progress.
- Work alongside teachers and other school staff to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Assist with managing challenging behaviour, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment.
- Support children in both academic and social activities, encouraging participation and engagement.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children, ideally with additional needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties).
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support children in their learning.
- Confidence in adapting lessons and support strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
- A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (SEN) are desirable but not essential.

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant based at our Newton Abbot / Ashburton school(s) you will be a key member of our team, enhancing the education of our students.
