Job Description
Learning Support Assistant - East London
Full-Time | Term-Time |
We're working with a well-regarded SEN school in East London that supports children and young people with autism, communication needs, and learning differences. They're growing, and they're looking for new Learning Support Assistants to join their team from September.
This is not a ticking-boxes kind of job. This is real, hands-on work supporting students who rely on structure, trust, and patience to access their education. Some are non-verbal. Many just need the right person beside them to help them feel safe and understood at school.
If you're calm, reliable, and genuinely want to support young people who learn differently this could be a great fit.
What the role involves:
- Supporting students one-to-one or in small groups, both in class and during quieter parts of the day
- Helping learners with autism feel settled, included, and able to engage with lessons
- Using visuals, routines, and personalised approaches to help students follow their learning
- Working closely with teachers and therapists to keep students regulated and on track
- Being part of a consistent team that sees behaviour as communication, not just disruption
- Occasionally supporting with personal care or managing more complex behaviour (training provided)
What we're looking for:
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs in schools or elsewhere
- A calm, grounded personality that can hold boundaries and build trust
- People who are dependable, observant, and don't shy away from difficult moments
- Someone open to learning new strategies and being part of a supportive, reflective team
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willing to apply for one through us
What the school offers:
- A respectful, well-organised environment with a strong focus on emotional wellbeing
- In-house training, including autism-specific strategies and behaviour support approaches
- A staff team that works together not in silos
- Real opportunities to stay long-term, train further, and develop a meaningful career in SEN
If you live in or around Hackney and want to be part of a school that takes inclusion seriously and does it well then get in touch.
Send your CV to Remedy Education or call and ask for Dylan at (phone number removed) to find out more.
Please note: This role is subject to full safeguarding and background checks in line with school policies.

In this role you'll be part of a close-knit team, working face-to-face with both colleagues and learners. You'll benefit from clear boundaries between work and home life, with no working from home allowed. That means NO MARKING, NO PLANNING in your weekends or evenings.

- Help create and sustain a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
- Accurately track and record learner attendance, progress, and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, prison officers, and other key stakeholders to meet learners' educational needs.
Work schedule: 3 x 12 hour days 8am-8pm Monday - Friday with some flexibility to cover Saturday between the team.
Salary scale: 27,600 per annum
Benefits:

This role will not be for everyone, but anyone with a slight interest is encouraged to apply and if suitable, you will have the opportunity to have a discussion with the hiring manager directly over the phone, who can provide more detail and an insight into life working in a prison.
To be considered, suitable candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- A Level 3 teaching qualification is desirable, though not essential.
- Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar support role is advantageous.
