Our client, a prominent entity in London's Public sector, is currently seeking an Electric Vehicle Traffic Engineer to join their Design & Engineering team on a two-year fixed-term contract. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to one of the country's most significant expansions of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, aiding the borough's goal of a 90% electric vehicle uptake by 2030.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of EV charging schemes on lamp columns, fast and rapid chargers on public highways, and estate chargers in Hackney Housing
- Design and implementation of minor traffic engineering schemes
- Conducting public consultations and reviewing EV plans
- Preparing and managing traffic management orders
- Maintaining detailed records of completed projects
- Liaising with external and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
- Supporting Senior Traffic Engineers in concept development, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, consultation, and implementation phases of various traffic engineering schemes
- Assisting in the delivery of statutory and legal transportation obligations in a politically sensitive and customer-focused manner
Job Requirements:
- Post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering
- Experience in Traffic Management and Road Safety Engineering schemes
- In-depth understanding of traffic engineering principles and EV infrastructure
- Excellent written and communication skills

Focused on expanding the most valued domestic installation team within this sector, an ideal applicant must be a fully qualified experienced electrician possessing excellent face to face customer service skills, a “can do” work ethic, with EV charge point installation experience.
The role is based from home, then travelling to customers properties. You will be responsible for collaborating with the customer to achieve the most desirable installation whilst adhering to the current wiring regulations and company practices. Your installations will normally be within your home area, but may vary depending on demand.
Required:
- A fully NVQ qualified level 3 electrician, or equivalent.
- Hold a full UK Driving licence
- Off Road parking facility at home where a charging point may be fitted
Desirable:
- EV charge point installation experience
Package:
- Weekend overtime and bonus schemes available

Scope of Work:
Vehicle Exhaust Emission & EV Range testing to meet current and future Legislative requirements:
- Vehicle Chassis Dynamometer operation
- Drive Emissions test cycles to WLTP Standard
- Real Drive Emissions on-road testing
- Emissions analysis measurement
- Fundamental understanding of vehicle dis-assembly, assembly, & maintenance techniques
- Vehicle system knowledge with the ability to fault find
- Understanding of component measurement techniques Instrumentation set-up
- Understanding of vehicle diagnostic tools
- Data acquisition & data collation
- Facility & instrumentation calibration
Roles and Responsibilities
- Preparation / maintenance of vehicles or components for test in line with local procedures and Nissan Engineering Manuals.
- Support Testing in static and dynamic conditions to gather accurate, timely, and quality test data/results.
- Support Evaluation and concern identification including liaison with Test Engineer.
- Support delivery of Key Performance Indicators for the section
- Use skills to provide support to other sections as required.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with Emissions / Test Systems such as Horiba or AVL
- Minimum C&G / BTEC L3 would be preferable, ideally in mechanical, Electrical or automotive engineering with a recognised apprenticeship or qualification within a relevant field.
Desired Characteristics
- Fully proficient in the fundamental practical mechanical / Electrical skills required for this role
- Ability to work safely and to comply with legal and company safety policies
- A good knowledge of Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
