Job Title: Engagement Coordinator

Location: Community based - BCP

Contract Type: Temporary

Salary: 13.47 per hour

About Us:

Connect2Dorset is a managed service agency owned by Dorset Council providing temporary, contract and interim opportunities into the Council. Our service is built on our values of ethical, trustworthy, and caring, and our profits are returned to our Local Authority shareholders.

The LiveWell Dorset Service supports individuals by using the latest behavioural science to make positive changes to their behaviours to enable them to say well for longer. Support is delivered at scale and is designed to meet the needs of those people and communities who will benefit most.

About the Role:

We are looking for a confident communicator with a can-do attitude to play a pivotal role in our mission to help people live healthier lives. As an Engagement Coordinator, you will build relationships with key stakeholder groups to support and facilitate the promotion of LiveWell Dorset within local communities. You will identify and attend appropriate events, representing the service in a professional and confident manner aiming to enhance service usage by target groups and under-represented populations. This is a hugely important role, raising awareness of and access into the unique LiveWell Dorset service and helping people to take their first step to a happier, healthier lifestyle.

Day-to-Day Duties:

The post holder will work as a member of a multi-professional team to promote and support the people of Dorset with their health and wellbeing.

The post holder will be expected to operate with a good degree of autonomy, working independently in community settings across the whole of Dorset to raise awareness of the LiveWell Dorset service. This includes running stands at events, engaging the public in conversations about their health, delivering health interventions such as blood pressure checks and supporting them to take steps to improve their lifestyle. The role also involves virtual engagement with community groups, charities and under-represented groups through online presentations and information sharing.

As part of a Training & Engagement Team, the post holder will, in part, generate their own opportunities to promote the service through building an appropriate network of contacts and relationships across the county but will also be assigned pieces of engagement work by other members of the team to ensure activities contribute to the overall strategic vision. The post holder will also be required to support and occasionally undertake the delivery of NHS Health Checks as part of the role and full training will be provided.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Level 2 Understanding Health Improvement or equivalent.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • GCSE Standard or equivalent with A-C grades in English and Maths.
  • Experience in health promotion initiatives and one-to-one support.
  • Experience with community organisations, influencing change.
  • Significant experience with computerised systems and IT, including Word, Excel, email, and databases.
  • Strong written, verbal, non-verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong administration, planning, and prioritisation skills.

Please note that hours are to be worked between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday. The role also requires flexibility, with regular weekend working to enable engagement at community events and activities. This provides the opportunity to connect with a wide range of people in different settings, helping to maximise the reach and impact of the LiveWell Dorset service.

The job holder will be required to travel across Dorset and work from a variety of locations. Applicants for this role must have a UK driving license and access to a car for work.
