Are you a skilled Gas Scheduler looking for a dynamic and challenging role in a global financial institution? We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Gas Scheduler AVP to join our team. This mid-level position offers the opportunity to oversee gas scheduling operations, collaborate with key stakeholders, and contribute to the success of our trading activities.

Team/Role Overview:

Our Gas Scheduling team plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing gas movements and storage. As an AVP, you will be a key contributor to this team, working closely with traders, operations personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of gas transactions. You will have the opportunity to contribute to process improvements, onboarding new storage sites, and supporting new product development.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and optimize gas scheduling activities, ensuring timely and accurate execution of transactions.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new storage sites, coordinating with internal and external parties.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues throughout the deal lifecycle, leveraging strong internal and external relationships.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on new products, structure transactions, and manage trading book purchases.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Ensure accurate trade processing and compliance with bank risk policies.
  • Handle audit queries and perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
  • Partner closely with control functions (Legal, Compliance, Market & Credit Risk, Audit, Finance) to maintain robust governance and controls.
  • Foster a culture of responsible finance, ethical conduct, and expense discipline.
  • Carefully assess risk/reward in business decisions, prioritizing the firm's reputation.
  • Adhere to Citi's Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services.
  • Maintain required registrations/licenses within established timeframes.
  • Demonstrate sound ethical judgment and escalate control issues transparently.

Our client is a marketing and trading business supporting global energy operations . They are involved in equity production marketing, third-party trading, shipping, storage, and derivatives. The organisation operates across global time zones and continues to grow its European customer base across a range of energy products.


Due to continued expansion, we are seeking a Market Risk Analyst to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring risk exposures across both physical and financial energy commodity portfolios, calculating Value at Risk (VaR) and stress scenarios, and providing insight into market movements, forward curves, and trading P&L drivers. The role involves close collaboration with front office and control teams to manage risk limits, support hedging decisions, and enhance risk models and reporting tools.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Monitor and analyse daily market risk exposure across energy commodity portfolios (e.g., crude oil, LPG, natural gas, power, carbon)
  • Calculate and validate key risk metrics, including Value at Risk (VaR), stress testing, scenario analysis, and mark-to-market P&L attribution
  • Track and interpret movements in commodity prices, forward curves, volatilities, and basis risks.
  • Collaborate with trading, risk control, and finance teams to investigate and explain material P&L and risk drivers
  • Support the implementation and back testing of risk models and assumptions specific to physical and financial commodity products
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk limits/Control policy and escalate breaches or anomalies in a timely manner
  • Assist in reporting to senior management and external regulators, aligned with risk governance frameworks (e.g., ICE, FCA, EMIR, REMIT)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in risk reporting tools, dashboards, and processes using tools like Python, Power BI, or SQL
  • Understand and monitor optionality, storage exposure, logistics constraints, and hedging effectiveness related to energy trading strategies


EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Statistics).


SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:


  • Strong interest in financial markets and risk management concepts
  • Basic understanding of key financial instruments (bonds, options, swaps, futures) and market risk metrics (VaR, Greeks, sensitivities)
  • Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Python, SQL, or VBA is a plus
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions
  • Prior internship or placement year in a financial institution is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with risk systems (e.g., Murex, Bloomberg, Risk Watch, or internal VaR engines).

As we move towards a low-carbon energy system, we need a dynamic and forward-thinking Market Regulation Manager to make a tangible impact in guiding NGN through some of the most significant changes the industry has ever seen.

You will be at the forefront of navigating complex regulatory obstacles, helping unlock the potential of projects like East Coast Hydrogen , and ensuring NGN is prepared for a greener, cleaner future.

Our head office is in Leeds; however other working arrangements can be discussed at interview.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Lead the charge on regulatory changes required to support hydrogen and other low-carbon options within our network
  • li>Act as NGN’s key voice in industry forums and with key stakeholders like Ofgem, DESNZ and Xoserve Interpret complex legal and industry frameworks and turn them into clear, practical advice for colleagues < i>Identify opportunities to influence code, reform, licence conditions and governance to support our net zero aspirations li>Ensure that East Coast Hydrogen and other energy future projects stay on track from a regulatory perspective

What we’re looking for

    A solid understanding of the regulatory environment within which NGN operates
  • Knowledge of key industry frameworks (UNC, REC, SEC, and Gas Transporter Licence)
  • Experience influencing at a senior level – both internally and externally
  • < i>Sharp analytical thinking, with the ability to translate complex change into clear guidance
  • A confident communicator who can build strong relationships across the industry and within NGN
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a genuine passion for the future of energy

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree-level education (ideally in a business, energy, regulatory or finance discipline)
  • Experienced track record working on regulatory, legal or policy related projects
  • Ability to manage a varied workload, and work both independently and as part of a team

At Northern Gas Networks (NGN), we’re not just talking about the future, we are building it. As we move towards a low-carbon energy system, we need a dynamic and forward-thinking Market Regulation Manager to make a tangible impact in guiding NGN through some of the most significant changes the industry has ever seen.

You will be at the forefront of navigating complex regulatory obstacles, helping unlock the potential of projects like East Coast Hydrogen , and ensuring NGN is prepared for a greener, cleaner future.

Our head office is in Leeds; however other working arrangements can be discussed at interview.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Lead the charge on regulatory changes required to support hydrogen and other low-carbon options within our network
  • li>Act as NGN’s key voice in industry forums and with key stakeholders like Ofgem, DESNZ and Xoserve Interpret complex legal and industry frameworks and turn them into clear, practical advice for colleagues < i>Identify opportunities to influence code, reform, licence conditions and governance to support our net zero aspirations li>Ensure that East Coast Hydrogen and other energy future projects stay on track from a regulatory perspective

What we’re looking for

    A solid understanding of the regulatory environment within which NGN operates
  • Knowledge of key industry frameworks (UNC, REC, SEC, and Gas Transporter Licence)
  • Experience influencing at a senior level – both internally and externally
  • < i>Sharp analytical thinking, with the ability to translate complex change into clear guidance
  • A confident communicator who can build strong relationships across the industry and within NGN
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a genuine passion for the future of energy

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree-level education (ideally in a business, energy, regulatory or finance discipline)
  • Experienced track record working on regulatory, legal or policy related projects
  • Ability to manage a varied workload, and work both independently and as part of a team
