About the role:As the Energy Trading Manager within a regulated business and with the support of your team of 6, you will, on behalf of National Gas procure Gas and Electricity via the wholesale gas market and electricity supply contracts in order to meet the energy requirements of the compressor fleet and network system losses (Shrinkage) whilst managing the associated National Gas GB Emission Trading Scheme position.
The role affords the responsibility of both the front and middle office elements of trading together with aspects of back office compliance. You will have an operational track record in developing commercial arrangements and driving both financial and team performance with a strong focus on compliance and a broad understanding of the energy markets market fundamentals.
You will provide efficient and robust management of the shrinkage trading, managing circa 00M to 00m p.a of purchases to ensure obligations are met. You will optimise shrinkage value for customers and ensure the necessary compliance with internal processes, financial governance, legislative requirements and trader authorisation.
You will direct the middle office and lead on the development and implementation of innovative strategies to optimise the forward energy procurement and emission compliance requirements, whilst applying appropriate risk management.
You will help influence and develop the UK regulatory obligations whilst ensuring that we comply with these critical obligations, you will do this through the definition and implementation of appropriate back office operational processes, identification of functional requirements to be delivered through IT system tools and feed into gas market changes as required.
You will build relationships with customers and service providers to enable National Gas to procure services to facilitate optimal shrinkage and emission trading. You will direct the development and implementation of new revenue opportunities and be accountable to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders to secure appropriate changes to the regime.
About you:- Knowledge of the gas transmission business, its role in the wider gas industry and how Shrinkage and Emissions link into this.
- Knowledge of the associated statutory and commercial obligations under which the gas transmission business operates
- Knowledge of the commercial (primarily the GT Licence and Uniform Network Code) and incentive regime associated with gas transmission (specifically the System Operator elements)
- Experience of commercial contracting and gas trading arrangements
Experience of working with customers and stakeholders in both a commercial and operational environment
Knowledge of financial governance arrangements within National Gas
- Knowledge of and interest in the fundamentals at play in the energy and commodity markets
- Team management and development experience
