Engineering Operations Manager Role

NC Associates are working exclusively with a long established PLC organisation who are looking to recruit a Lead Engineering Operations Manager. Working as an integral part of the UK & Ireland Region service team, the Engineering Operations Manager will provide strong leadership of the service teams in the region, being a role model for safety and delivering effective financial management for the region.

As a leader, this role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership skills with the ability to drive success through the team, and a customer-focused approach. This role is also responsible for ensuring that all service activities are completed within specified time-frames and quality standards.

Engineering Operations Manager Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for QHSE in your respective service area, implementing internal and external regulations as required to ensure QHSE compliance
  • Displaying Role model behaviours and actively driving safety and safe working practices in your Service area
  • Overall responsibility for the financial and commercial performance of your Service area (CSO) including budget planning and performance
  • Effectively driving and reporting on KPI’s meeting all reporting requirements
  • Overall responsibility for operational performance in the service area 
  • Managing stock levels and inventory
  • Providing leadership to the site teams and effectively delegating to team leads to ensure all work is carried out effectively, safely and to the required standard as well as reviewing and managing team performance
  • Recruitment and development of all service employees within the service area including the identification of training and development needs to build and maintain a high-performing team
  • Creating and implementing staffing plans for the area
  • Analysing operational data to monitor team, individual's and wind farm performance and act as appropriate to share successes, address shortfalls and make improvements
  • Ensuring that quality standards are always met and acting as a role model for quality
  • Ensuring a smooth transfer from build phase team to the Service team
  • Creating business plans for new service points in case of growth in the area, or needed for relocation due to business development
  • Overseeing site safety auditing and reporting
  • Ensuring management of site facilities
  • Management of large operations (such as gearbox exchange) and improvement initiatives
  • Managing customer operational topics and ensuring effective and collaborative communication
  • Reviewing reporting from the site: Maintenance, HSE, timekeeping and making sure that reports will be submitted on time
  • Checking employee's time tracking regularly to ensure compliance with Working Time Regulations and submit correct data for payroll purposes
  • Working closely and in cooperation with local Project Management
  • Working on other initiatives to improve efficiency and competitiveness

 Engineering Operations Manager Experience Required

  • The successful candidate will have experience of working in a leadership role and will have completed an apprenticeship or have relevant experience in a Mechanical or Electrical engineering role.
  • You will have a working knowledge in commercial or financial controls and be comfortable with managing financial performance, KPI’s and budgets. A qualification or relevant experience in business management would also be desirable.
  • Experience of managing remote field-based teams is essential to this role alongside having the ability to deal with the full spectrum of people management.

Other essential skills and behaviour required for this role include:

  • Strong Computer literacy with the able to use MS Office and workload management systems (SAP)
  • Experience in dealing with complex businesses, preferably matrix organisations
  • A strong customer focused approach
  • Excellent decision making, planning and prioritisation skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Flexibility and adaptable
  • A systematic working approach
  • Strong team working, collaboration and delegating approach

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate is required to hold a full UK Driving Licence. There is also a requirement to travel on a regular basis which will require nights away from home.

AWS Support provides global technical support to a wide range of external customers as they build mission-critical applications on top of AWS services such as Amazon S3 and Amazon EC2. We are seeking an Operations Manager with strong operational, leadership and technical skills to lead a team of engineers responsible for providing support.
Your team will:
- Field technical support inquiries from customers
- Complete analysis and present periodic reviews of operational performance
- Provide detailed reviews of service disruptions, metrics, detailed pre-launch planning
- Make recommendations to customers about how new AWS offerings fit in their company architecture
- Advocate for customer requirements within AWS (be their voice)
- Work with some of the leading technologists around the world
- Work directly with Amazon Web Service engineers to ensure that customer issues are resolved as expediently as possible
The right person will be highly technical, analytical, and have experience managing technical teams. In addition, this person will have a record of driving projects to improve support-related processes and the technical support experience and be passionate about the growth and success of AWS customers. Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of engineering experience and 2+ years of direct management / leadership experience within the information technology industry
- Capable of managing an engineering team supporting external services with a business problem or strategy that may not yet be defined
- Able to assess technical support requirements based on where services are at in their life cycle
- Bachelor's degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS service offerings
- Experience with web services
- Working knowledge of software development practices and technologies highly desired
- Past experience as a systems administration, network engineer, or software development engineer

**About the Role:**
As a CBRE Engineering Ops Manager, you will manage a team responsible for implementing, coordinating, and managing all mechanical and electrical operations for a facility, campus, or portfolio of buildings.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
**What You'll Do:**
+ Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
+ Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.
+ Assist team with operations and maintenance issues.
+ Direct contractors, subcontractors, and engineers on the entire maintenance aspect.
+ Supervise and manage the daily operation of facility controls and asset management systems.
+ Enforce and merge customer engineering, maintenance standards, and requirements into the facility maintenance program and any configuration changes.
+ Support preparation of annual operating budgets. Evaluate, forecast, and manage operations and maintenance costs for a specific location.
+ Schedule maintenance activities complying with customer operational requirements.
+ Support operational analysis of all engineering related performance metrics (KPIs).
+ Drive continuous improvement and innovation. Support the undertaking of peer reviews, site assessments, and technical competence evaluations.
+ Integrate with clients for reconfiguration, changes, and operational requirements.
+ Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.
+ Apply knowledge of own discipline and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.
+ Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues that may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.
**What You'll Need:**
+ Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
+ Membership of an Engineering related professional body i.e. CIBSE/ IEE preferred.
+ Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.
+ Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.
+ Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.
+ Excellent client relationship skills.
+ In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
+ Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.

As an intern, you will participate in our 12-week internship program in our London Data Centers.



Duties & Responsibilities:

The Engineering Operations team is Amazonu2019s front-line responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. You will work with equipment that supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPSu2019s, PDUu2019s, AHUu2019s, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDu2019s, and building automation systems.



Duties include:

Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment

Assist root cause analysis of equipment failures

Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA

Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment

Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows

Interact with third party vendors & contractors who are working on site



Physical Requirements

Work at heights and from ladders.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.

Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects.



Amazon does not sponsor for immigration, including for H-1B, TN, and other non-immigrant visas, for this role. Candidates must hold the right to work in the U.K. before or by the commencement of the internship.
