We’re working with a leading UK education group on a major Microsoft 365 tenancy consolidation programme, bringing multiple tenancies together into a single, secure, and efficient environment. This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced Strategic Engineering Lead to shape the technical direction, design, and long-term success of this transformation.

The Role
As the Strategic Engineering Lead , you’ll oversee the technical delivery of the Microsoft 365 tenancy consolidation and migration programme from end to end. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all migrations are seamless, secure, and compliant with organisational standards, while maintaining focus on scalability and performance. Working with internal teams and external partners, you’ll lead on all aspects of M365 architecture, governance, and integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of the tenancy consolidation and migration programme across Microsoft 365.

  • Oversee the successful migration of users, mailboxes, and services into the consolidated environment.

  • Ensure best practice across Azure, Entra, and the wider Microsoft cloud ecosystem.

**Recruitment Process:**
Here is a brief overview of what you can expect when applying to our Placement Student roles.

**Stage two - Assessment Centre:** The Assessment Centre day will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible.
**Stage three - Offer:** After the Assessment Centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our preferred candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible. Placement Students will start on 6th July 2026.

At our Peterborough Campus we have a 17 - person materials engineering team, who support the engineering & test teams through materials recommendations, observations, and assessments. Supporting programs of work within the Peterborough campus and our extended Caterpillar customers within the UK & Europe. Our world class 'accredited' lab facilities allowing us to support the development of new technologies and derive solutions for our global Caterpillar manufacturing customers, always supporting the drive for sustainability through the company. Basic Qualifications
- To qualify for this programme, you must:
- Be 18 years or over before the start date (September 2026)
- Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the programme until September 2030).
- Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
- Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme
- Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2026 or later
- Have at least 5 GCSEs C grade (grade 4) or above including Maths and English
- Three A levels (or equivalent) at C (grade 4) or above in either Mathematics, IT, Physics, or an Engineering related subject, OR have completed a BTEC level 3 engineering qualification of 180 credits which must include further mathematics
- Please note, if you have received educational qualifications outside of the UK then we will require a Statement of Comparability to confirm your eligibility for the scheme. Please ensure you obtain one during the application process, through UK ENIC: Previous qualifications will be reviewed for funding eligibility and offers are subject to funding approval
- PLEASE NOTE: This position is a 48-month fixed-term contract. You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship.
- This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has little or no knowledge/experience of the occupation and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have a similar or higher-level qualification in the same or similar subject of the apprenticeship.
Preferred Qualifications
- You have a maintenance or Engineering HNC/D qualification - ideally with a PLC, automation, electronics or electrical bias
