A classic Engineering Manager role with responsibility for 5 to 6 direct reports and circa 30 staff in total with responsibility for Design, Machining, Fabrication & Assembly, Production planning & Logistics.
Your role will be to improve efficiency with a particular focus on production planning & to co ordinate the different functions in the engineering team by providing strong leadership.
Reporting to the owners you will be given autonomy and will be expected to identify problems AND solutions to them and to your team as well as mentoring your line managers and working closely with the other members of the senior management team to drive continuing business growth and profitability.
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Engineering Manager / Technical / Production / Manufacturing
· You MUST have a proven track record as an Engineering / Technical / Operations Manager and will have managed a similar sized team across the Design, Manufacturing & Production planning functions for a manufacturing company.
· You WILL ideally have direct experience with a precision engineering components manufacturer.
· Any specific knowledge of the packaging machinery industry would be advantageous.
· You will be happy to work autonomously and will be a strong leader.
· You will be a qualified mechanical or manufacturing engineer.
· Lastly you will have knowledge of both ERP & CAD / SolidWorks.

We are looking for an enthusiastic engineering candidate to join our team specializing in engineering for our alternator business in Peterborough, UK. During your apprenticeship with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
Summary of the Course:
The engineering apprentice role is a developmental position within our engineering teams. During the apprenticeship, you will work 5 days per week, including 1 day per week for study at Peterborough College. On completion of this apprenticeship, you will obtain a Level 3 Engineering Design Technician.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
+ Work across multiple engineering departments and provide valuable input towards alternator design
+ Work with our design teams to design efficient and robust alternators
+ Manage projects across multiple functions to ensure our alternators are released to customer specifications
+ Support customers directly with configuration and sizing of product to meet customer demands
+ Test alternators to ensure compliance with the international codes and standards to which we adhere
**QUALIFICATIONS**
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
+ GCSE grade 6 or above in Maths and 5 or above in Science, with at least three additional GCSEs at grade 4 or above. Preference given to candidates who have studied a GCSE in Engineering or similar technical subjects.
+ Evidence of interest in engineering through school projects, extracurricular STEM activities, or relevant work experience in an engineering environment (e.g., building, designing, or contributing to technical projects).
+ Demonstrated excellence in mathematics and physics, with solid scores that reflect analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
