**The Role:**
We are in search of a Systems Engineering Lead for our Leidos engineering capability. The successful Systems Engineer will have a full understanding of the principles of systems engineering, will have prior experience as a Systems Engineer on a major programme involving accepting and integrating deliveries from suppliers.
As a Systems Engineer in Leidos, you will be immersed in one of our key programmes - transformation from legacy systems to cloud. On behalf of our central government customer, you will have direct impact on the current and future iterations of one of our most important pieces of critical national infrastructure.

Using your experience in Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for working with customers and suppliers to execute/lead Systems Engineering activities across the full lifecycle.
**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Leader of a high-performing team to deliver IT services to central government agency
+ Cross-functional collaboration; both within the business, and with the customer
+ Applying your systems engineering knowledge to software-intensive & cloud hosted systems
**What Does Leidos Need From Me?**
+ Systems Engineering knowledge:
+ You must have demonstrable knowledge and experience of applying the development lifecycle, requirements management & design, and baseline management, with a solid understanding of the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook.
+ You must be experienced with Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
+ You must have demonstrable knowledge and experience of performing Trade Studies, drawing conclusions and making recommendations to stakeholders.
+ A solid foundation in security principles and practices is essential.
+ Desirable technical knowledge:
+ Familiarity with On-Premise Infrastructure solutions, e.g. VMWare ESXI, SAN Storage.
+ Familiarity with AWS based Cloud solutions.
+ Experience of working within a Bid / pre-sales environment.
+ Knowledge of TOGAF/MODAF.

+ Leading systems design and development tasks - working both internally and closely with the existing supply chain and strategic partnerships to develop technical solutions

The first year will involve working along side other apprentices in our Rotating Machines business in Rugby on core skills. - Engineering degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering.
- Background in test engineering or structured engineering environments (aerospace, defence, rail, nuclear preferred).
- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Positive, outgoing, and able to build rapport with diverse technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to produce bids, proposals, and technical documentation.
- Strong business acumen with a "salesy" mindset - able to spot opportunities and frame solutions.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and Europe.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Bournemouth area.

The Role
This position combines sales and technical expertise . The successful candidate will play a key role in winning new business, managing customer relationships, and ensuring the highest quality technical responses to customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Understand the full suite of products and capabilities available from the entire group for resale into the UK marketplace.
- Regularly visit customers in the UK and Europe, building relationships and establishing a strong personal network within key accounts.
- Bridge the gap between engineering and the customer by capturing and articulating technical capabilities in a commercially compelling way.
- Develop solutions by comparing ideas with colleagues, suppliers, and partners to identify the optimum approach.
- Write compelling and accurate technical responses (Word / PowerPoint) supported by cost models (Excel) and project plans (MS Project).
- Produce reliable time and cost estimates by collaborating with engineering, project management, purchasing, and production teams.
Candidate Profile
- Engineering degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering.
- Background in test engineering or structured engineering environments (aerospace, defence, rail, nuclear preferred).
- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Positive, outgoing, and able to build rapport with diverse technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to produce bids, proposals, and technical documentation.
- Strong business acumen with a "salesy" mindset - able to spot opportunities and frame solutions.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and Europe.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Bournemouth area.
