The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Estimator to join a successful and growing civil engineering contractor. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a skilled pre-construction team, where you will play a vital role in producing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a wide variety of projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects including roads, bridges, drainage systems, earthworks, and reinforced concrete structures.

  • Analysing drawings, specifications, and project documentation to prepare comprehensive tender submissions.

  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to source and validate cost data.

  • Identifying risks and opportunities within tender documents and recommending cost-effective solutions.

  • Attending site visits, client meetings, and post-tender negotiations when required.

  • Supporting the preparation of tender programmes and bid strategies.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering or wider construction industry.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing.

  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail with strong organisational abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).

  • A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar (desirable).

Update Pirana corrective actions and prepare weekly progress reports to drive progress.
Provide support with training materials
Help develop and issue Engineering SOP's
To assist the Engineering manager /supervisor in distributing information to staff.
Create daily and weekly performance reports for use by Engineering Management, using Power BI, Excel, Word and other office applications.
Ensure contractor's inductions and insurance details are up to date and in order
Managing the site CMMS and scheduling work and reviewing completion
 
 
You will be a strong communicator both written and verbal with exceptional attention to detail and possess excellent problem-solving skills along with the ability to work efficiently and to agreed timescales.
You will possess strong Administration skills and working knowledge of Excel with the ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data.
You will also ideally have previous experience of working within a manufacturing-based environment and have knowledge of working with Shire / Pirana or other CMMS systems would be highly beneficial

  • Candidates must be willing to develop new skills and undertake training to be able to operate in a flexible manner to support the Business needs
  • Knowledge of lean principles and process basics
