As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work on a range of projects in the energy and renewable power sector, with a focus on providing Process Safety inputs as well as engineering delivery and management of tasks and deliverables. Projects are typically focused in the hydrogen and future fuels/green chemicals space, as well as carbon capture and storage technologies and other process technologies with a core focus on decarbonisation.

Provide engineering design and technical advisory services to a diverse range of clients; ensuring all technical design work is completed in accordance with local standards and sound engineering principles;
Provide expertise on process hazard analysis, including chairing HAZID and sometimes HAZOP studies associated with the teamu2019s projects and advising clients on needs for safety studies and contributing to and reviewing safety studies completed by contractors for compliance with requirements on behalf of our clients;
Work with Process Safety professionals within the wider AECOM business to develop collaboration opportunities and enhance quality of service in this area for our clients;
Take responsibility for the delivery of technical and other deliverables as part of projects on behalf of project managers within our own team and the wider AECOM organisation;
Prepare and present bids and proposals including cost estimates and supporting materials;
Work closely with project teams to ensure timely provision of coordinated and quality engineering deliverables;
Actively foster and strengthen relationships with internal and external clients and suppliers; developing new relationships in the pursuit of winning work for the energy business;

Considerable technical experience in power generation, industrial process, CCUS and/or future fuels projects, preferably within a consulting environment;

Understanding of process safety regulations including COMAH and ATEX regimes, ideally with knowledge of how these apply to Hydrogen and derivatives.

- Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar field) or experience equivalent
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Civil Engineering industry, ideally within the water and/or utilities sectors
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting and cost control
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Sound organisational and interpersonal skills
- Full UK driving licence.

Our client, an established and privately owned civil engineering contractor based in Coventry, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their business. This multi-accredited contractor specialises in delivering tailored civil engineering solutions across the water and utilities industries for local authorities and high-profile Tier 1 contractors appointed on the Severn Trent Water framework. They offer excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development, and due to continued success, they are growing their commercial team.
This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Coventry office.
Your new role
As Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
- Analysing and managing commercial risks
- Interpreting client requirements and supporting feasibility studies
- Reviewing tender documents and assessing costs
- Allocating work to subcontractors and coordinating with site teams
- Preparing interim valuations and managing cost reporting
- Monitoring budgets and arranging subcontractor payments
- Negotiating final accounts and conducting site visits
- Ensuring contract compliance and maintaining accurate documentation.
