We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Engineering Estimator to join a growing team at our Verwood facility. This role sits within our busy CNC machine shop and offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of precision components across an ever-evolving product portfolio.



Engineering Estimator Responsibilities:

  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings to prepare accurate and competitive quotations

  • Work closely with customers and suppliers to ensure clear and effective communication

  • Understand manufacturing methods and machine capabilities to ensure realistic quoting

  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce pricing that benefits both customer and business

  • Accurately assess machining times and costs for both turning and milling operations

  • Prepare quotations efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met

  • Apply sound machining knowledge to assess production feasibility

  • Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word etc.) to produce and maintain quotes and data



Engineering Estimator Skills:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Clear and confident communication at all levels, both internally and externally

  • Ability to remain calm and level-headed when under pressure

  • Strong decision-making ability and a proactive approach to daily challenges

  • Skilled in both turning and milling CNC machining methods

  • Experience working in a fast-paced subcontract machining environment

  • Understanding of production processes, tooling, and material requirements

  • Competent in identifying the most efficient method of manufacture

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and customer needs



Engineering Estimator Qualifications:

  • Apprentice-trained or an experienced engineer with hands-on manufacturing experience

  • Previous experience estimating within an engineering or CNC environment

  • Experience working to AS9100 or a similar quality standard

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices in the workplace

  • Proven involvement in driving process improvements and cost-saving initiatives

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles

We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to support multiple infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the South of England. This is a great opportunity for an Engineering Manager who thrives in a leadership role, enjoys mentoring junior engineers, and is comfortable working across a number of live sites from a central base.
 
As Engineering Manager, you will be primarily based on a large site, with responsibility for providing roaming engineering oversight across a wider portfolio. You must be located in the South - ideally within 1.5 hours' travel of locations across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, and surrounding counties - to allow for practical site coverage.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
·Lead and support a team of 6-10 early-career engineers

ABOUT

Our Wildcat Base Maintenance team carry out 300 hourly zonal maintenance on the 62 strong fleet of Army and Navy Wildcat Helicopters. On a 17-week programme, teams strip, clean, inspect and rectify the aircraft to return to the front-line squadrons.  Our qualified engineers work a days’ routine, fault finding and replacing components as required and ground running the aircraft prior to sending them forward.

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND TASKS

  • To hold authorisations to the minimum level required by WMS, this is to include second signature within own trade group as detailed in OP 1103 and IAW individual Record of Engineering Authorisations (REA)
  • Maintain technical currency and authorisation through the training programme and reading disseminated information.
  • Aircraft maintenance within trade, as tasked by the Controllers and in accordance with published Procedures and Instructions.
  • Completing GOLDesp procedures IAW Wildcat Maintenance Support WMS OP 408 and JAP(D) 100A- series of publications.
  • Observing authorised tool control procedures (WMS OP 502) when carrying out maintenance work on aircraft and aircraft associated bay work.
  • Supervision of Technicians/Apprentices.
  • Operation and maintenance of AGE and Hangar facilities as directed.
  • Preparation of aircraft for road or air transportation if required.
  • Participation in exercise detachments and aircraft recovery operations as required.
  • Carrying out independent inspections where authorised in accordance with MAM-P and IAW individual REA.
  • Any other aircraft or aircraft support related tasks as directed by the appropriate Manager.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have served an aeronautical engineering apprenticeship or Service equivalent Trade Training.
  • Meet the criteria specified in WMS OP 1103 para 6.2 & Figure 1.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of UK Military Aircraft documentation procedures.
  • Current and competent in the use of GOLDesp.

PACKAGE/ BENEFITS

  • Starting salary £40,184.43 rising to £1,389.96 per annum upon completion of six-month probationary period
  • Possible banding allowence of 000 per annum when holding additional authorisations

Job Title: Engineering Manager – Electrical Systems

Location: Barrow-in-Furness / Filton – (Hybrid -2 days a fortnight (Barrow), 1 day a week(Filton) dependent on business needs, also a requirement to visit other sites in the UK on a regular basis)

Salary: Up to £61,967 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading & managing an engineering team to deliver the functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment
  • Managing the processes and reviews of technical documentation
  • Managing associated technical risks, assumptions and dependencies
  • Providing advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplines
  • Engaging with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems
  • Taking a leading role by guiding the team through the systems definition process
  • Providing leadership and mentoring of more junior team members to ensure the necessary capability and skills development

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Chartership or working (or prepared to work) towards
  • Engineering degree or HND with substantial experience in Electrical Engineering design / development
  • Experience of design / development of power systems (concept through to detailed design)
  • Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Team Leadership experience

Desirable

  • Knowledge of defence standards
  • Experience of Marine Electrical Systems
  • Experience of working with engineering life cycle

The Electrical Power Systems Definition team:

Working on the UK’s next-generation SSN design that incorporates technology from the UK, Australia and the United States you will be part of the Electrical Power team who are responsible for leading a team of engineers in defining the system elements required to feed into the submarine design and build process, including design documentation, spatial modelling and build outputs. This role will provide you with an opportunity to travel to various locations throughout the UK, including various BAE, customer and supplier sites. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
