**Electrical Engineering Industrial Placement**
If you want work experience that really counts, consider a placement with Phillips 66. We are now looking for a student who is working towards a degree in an Electrical Engineering or similar electrically biased degree subject to join us for a one-year industrial placement starting summer 2026.
Your time will be spent working on specific reliability focused projects alongside our experienced Electrical Engineers and Specialists. You will be assisting with the provision of Electrical Engineering support on the refinery.
As an Electrical Engineering placement student you will get the opportunity to work on a variety of real-life projects within the Electrical Engineering field. You will get to work alongside our experts on a broad range of technology used within the process industry sector including electrical protection devices, electrical infrastructure and electrical monitoring systems. There will also be interfaces to distributed control systems, industrial networking and cyber security. The placement is designed to help you gain the essential and transferable skills to have a successful career in your chosen industry.
Your assignment will be spent with The Electrical Engineering Team. Please indicate in your cover letter which of your specialisms makes you a good candidate for this role.
Should you do well during your time with us, you may be considered for a graduate position upon completion of your degree.
**Qualifications and Education**
+ You are a motivated and proactive student who relishes a challenge, as well as having an interest in Electrical Engineering in the Energy Sector
+ Working towards a minimum 2:1 in Electrical Engineering or similar electrically biased degree subject.
+ Good engineering/technical knowledge

With proposed plans for a number of projects including to implement a first-of-a-kind FCC carbon capture project, the Humber Refinery is part of Humber Zero, a world-scale concept to reduce UK industry carbon emissions, saving up to 8 million tonnes of CO2 by 2030 from the Immingham industrial area.
On top of this, the Humber Refinery is the UK's only refiner producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel at scale. It is also the only European facility producing battery anode coke, which forms a critical component for lithium-ion batteries used in electrical vehicles and in consumer electronics. Our current production of battery anode coke is equivalent to placing 1.3 million EVs on the road every year, and we are developing multiple projects to expand this capability.

Your time will be spent on specific projects or working alongside our experienced Chemical Engineers monitoring unit operations. You'll be given real work to do and real responsibility as a unit engineer looking after our process unit's day to day running and optimisation. In addition to core responsibilities, you'll be given a variety of work and experiences, including working with multiple disciplines, getting hands on site experience as well as the opportunity to get involved with maintenance inspections inside process vessels. About the role
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead Capex & Masterplan execution to deliver strategic value across a dynamic FMCG site. You’ll ensure compliance with financial controls, drive masterplan development, and manage capital spend in line with business objectives. The role demands strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to navigate complex project environments. You’ll oversee resource planning, succession development, and standardisation of engineering processes across multiple functions. With a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, you’ll play a key role in shaping the site’s long-term operational success.
Your responsibilities
- Lead Capex Strategy & Delivery: Accountability for Engineering Capex to deliver sustained business value. Ensure capital expenditure aligns with financial forecasts and strategic objectives.
- Masterplan Ownership: Develop and maintain a live 10-year masterplan covering project types, annual spend, resource needs, and depreciation. Collaborate with EPCM partners to assess and evolve long-term site development.
- Ensure Financial Compliance: Maintain site adherence to internal financial controls and policies. Identify and close compliance gaps within agreed timelines, ensuring audit readiness and risk mitigation.
- Resource & Succession Planning: Build external supplier partnerships to flex capacity for seasonal demands. Map resources against the masterplan and implement succession planning for all key roles, including recruitment and onboarding.
- Governance & Reporting: Prepare and present governance updates to senior leadership. Lead Capex Compliance audits and monitor monthly KPIs, implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Process Improvement & Standardisation: Drive engagement with the new capex process. Support central engineering teams in developing standardised templates and procedures to ensure consistency across Reckitt sites.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate Business Case Alignment with input from multiple functions. Lead monthly BCA reviews and share best practices across sites via Communities of Practice and other forums.
- Training & Capability Building: Develop and deliver the site’s Engineering & Sustainability training programme to enhance compliance, knowledge, and impact across the organisation
The experience we're looking for
Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering or related field, with 5+ years’ industry experience
- Proven background in FMCG, ideally within Pharmaceutical, Hygiene, or Food sectors
- Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with manufacturing and packaging operations in regulated environments
