Location: Edinburgh
Salary: Up to 38k + package benefits including hybrid working (up to 3 days from home)
Emtech are working with a medium size multi disciplinary Engineering Consultancy who are looking for a CAD Technician to join their Highways & Transport team in Edinburgh.
They are currently working on a range of schemes across residential, retail, warehouses and commercial projects so ideally you will have previous private sector experience.
Technical Experience Required:
- 1+ years experience using AutoCAD & AutoTRACK on highway and infrastructure schemes (or similar)
- Experience draughting roads, junctions, roundabouts, external works, drainage
- Prior experience with AutoCAD Civil 3d would be useful but training can be provided
- This role has scope to get involved with civil engineering design work as well as site visits
- HNC / HND Qualification within an Engineering related subject

- Ideally, the candidate will be degree-educated within civil engineering;
- At least 2 years' experience as a Project Manager;
- Previous experience in civil engineering projects is essential, NEC and Microsoft Project experience is essential;
- Water experience is highly desirable;
- Valid CSCS, SMSTS, is essential.

Engineering Operations Manager Role
NC Associates are working exclusively with a long established PLC organisation who are looking to recruit a Lead Engineering Operations Manager. Working as an integral part of the UK & Ireland Region service team, the Engineering Operations Manager will provide strong leadership of the service teams in the region, being a role model for safety and delivering effective financial management for the region.
As a leader, this role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership skills with the ability to drive success through the team, and a customer-focused approach. This role is also responsible for ensuring that all service activities are completed within specified time-frames and quality standards.
Engineering Operations Manager Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for QHSE in your respective service area, implementing internal and external regulations as required to ensure QHSE compliance
- Displaying Role model behaviours and actively driving safety and safe working practices in your Service area
- Overall responsibility for the financial and commercial performance of your Service area (CSO) including budget planning and performance
- Effectively driving and reporting on KPI’s meeting all reporting requirements
- Overall responsibility for operational performance in the service area
- Managing stock levels and inventory
- Providing leadership to the site teams and effectively delegating to team leads to ensure all work is carried out effectively, safely and to the required standard as well as reviewing and managing team performance

- Creating and implementing staffing plans for the area

- Reviewing reporting from the site: Maintenance, HSE, timekeeping and making sure that reports will be submitted on time
- Checking employee's time tracking regularly to ensure compliance with Working Time Regulations and submit correct data for payroll purposes
- Working closely and in cooperation with local Project Management
- Working on other initiatives to improve efficiency and competitiveness
Engineering Operations Manager Experience Required
- The successful candidate will have experience of working in a leadership role and will have completed an apprenticeship or have relevant experience in a Mechanical or Electrical engineering role.
- You will have a working knowledge in commercial or financial controls and be comfortable with managing financial performance, KPI’s and budgets. A qualification or relevant experience in business management would also be desirable.
- Experience of managing remote field-based teams is essential to this role alongside having the ability to deal with the full spectrum of people management.
Other essential skills and behaviour required for this role include:
- Strong Computer literacy with the able to use MS Office and workload management systems (SAP)
- Experience in dealing with complex businesses, preferably matrix organisations
- A strong customer focused approach
- Excellent decision making, planning and prioritisation skills
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Flexibility and adaptable
- A systematic working approach
- Strong team working, collaboration and delegating approach
