The Opportunity
This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £24,500 and the chance to work at our #Hartlepool Power Station in County Durham.
You’ll join our Engineering team, supporting safe and reliable generation by helping to deliver solutions for plant risks. You’ll work alongside engineers across multiple disciplines, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to real-world challenges.
This placement offers the chance to apply your academic knowledge to meaningful projects. You’ll build your confidence, develop your career and make a valuable contribution in a supportive and inclusive environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your Engineering Industrial Placement, you’ll gain practical experience in a professional environment. Past students have installed liquid level monitoring systems, assessed plant and component conditions, and supported condition monitoring programmes across operational sites.
You may also contribute to safety improvements through communications campaigns, training and other initiatives. Most of your learning will be on the job, supported by your mentor and the teams around you.
Your Work Location
You’ll be based at our #Hartlepool Power Station in County Durham, where you’ll work alongside experienced teams and gain exposure to the operational side of nuclear energy. This location offers a unique opportunity to connect with colleagues and contribute to a key part of our business.
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Control and Instrumentation or Chemical Engineering. Similar/relevant other engineering degrees may also be considered.

You’ll gain hands-on experience implementing cyber security policy, monitoring threats, and supporting incident response. This placement offers a unique opportunity to work across enterprise IT and industrial OT environments, contributing to the safe and secure operation of a nuclear power station.
What You’ll Be Doing
During your Cyber Security Industrial Placement, you’ll work at #Hartlepool Power Station. Past students have helped implement cyber security policies, monitored threats, supported incident response, and contributed to risk management activities across diverse computing systems.
This placement offers practical learning in a professional environment, supported by experienced teams and mentors. You’ll apply academic knowledge to real industry contexts while completing degree-relevant modules and gaining insight into cyber security within the energy sector.
