Due to succession planning, we're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a Global Manufacturing Company to take full responsibility for the engineering function at our Skelmersdale Manufacturing site.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive safety, performance, and reliability across a 24/5 operation - while leading a skilled and supportive team.
What You'll Be Doing as Engineering Manager

- Proven experience in engineering leadership (electrical or mechanical)
- Engineering Management experience within a continuous production or manufacturing environment with responsibility for a site / factory
- Strong background in safety and compliance, alongside Reliability / CBM (Condition-based maintenance) Maintenance Strategy
- Experience managing R&M budgets and capital projects
- Comfortable working with a mix of older and newer equipment
- Confident communicator who leads by example
- Formal qualifications (e.g. HNC) are welcome but not essential - your experience and leadership style matter most

As a client-facing Principal/Lead Engineer , you'll leverage your extensive knowledge in electrical engineering for process plants. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality electrical engineering tasks, on schedule, and within budget, ensuring client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role will encompass a range of critical activities, including:
- Providing expert electrical discipline technical input for projects and proposals, including the preparation, checking, and approval of all engineering documentation.
- Effectively allocating work and ensuring seamless delivery against project plans.
- Ensuring strict compliance with all applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation, and company/client standards and procedures.
- Preparing comprehensive equipment and materials requisitions for a wide array of electrical equipment, such as HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, VFDs, Motors, power factor correction, trace-heating, and lighting .
- Developing detailed installation scopes of work.
- Reviewing supplier quotations and preparing thorough technical bid assessments.
Required Competencies
We're looking for proficiency in some or all of the following areas:
- HV (33kV and below) system design .
- HV protection systems , including protection schematics, grading studies, and protection settings schedules.
- Detailed design of plants with large electrical networks .
- Earthing calculations and system design .
- Power system analysis , including fault level calculations and load flows.
- Specifying electrical equipment for use in hazardous areas .
Qualifications and Requirements
- A Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electronic / Electrical / Control Engineering). Apprenticeships may be considered for exceptional candidates.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body, or demonstrable evidence of being close to achieving these professional titles.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

If you are an Engineering Geologist situated in Manchester that is looking for an opportunity to work on funky projects and develop your pragmatic design approach to remediating landslides, slopes and rocks, then this position could be a perfect fit for you.
As an Engineering Geologist, you will be sat within a well experienced, specialist team of Engineering Geologists and Geotechnical design engineers helping to deliver a wide range of complex projects throughout the UK, America, Saudi, Dubai, and islands in the Atlantic ocean.
Your role as an Engineering Geologist will be split in the range of 60% office based and 40% site based, expect some international travel. See below for the split.
Site based include: minimal GI's (extremely complex only), field mapping, rock slope inspections, landside assessments, rope access etc.
Office based tasks include : detailed reporting and analysing data, modelling your site works then producing detailed design for remedial works etc. You will also be assisting the Geotechnical team on designs for projects across the teams.
Engineering Geologist requirements:
- BEng/MSc in Engineering Geology or Geology or something similar.
- 1-2 years' experience within UK engineering consultancy specialising in Geology.
- Rope access trained (preferred not essential)
- Experience assessing landslides (preferred but not essential)
- Geological modelling and detailed design for remedial work (preferred but not essential)

- Solid understanding of heat tracing systems, temperature maintenance solutions, or industrial electrical infrastructure is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with a structured approach to managing teams and technical project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand setting.
- Experience overseeing international projects or working with globally distributed teams is an advantage.
