As a Senior Associate Director…

You will be leading the design and delivery of major civil infrastructure projects, providing expert consultation and technical leadership, and ensuring design and operational excellence in all civil engineering activities including:

  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and technicians within the team
  • Overseeing project delivery from proposal to practical completion, ensuring quality, cost, and time objectives are met
  • Managing and cultivating client relationships and coordinating with stakeholders Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, policies, and legislation (e.g. CDM and UK Building Regulations)
  • Highway design – preliminary and detailed (s38 / s278 Highways Act)
  • Drainage design – strategic and detailed (s104 / s98 Water Act) both strategic and detailed
  • Foul pumping stations, SUDS, flow control structures and balancing facilities
  • Residential and commercial external works design including earthworks assessments
  • Technical reports, assessments, statements, and fee proposals

The Planning discipline has 800+ consultants and engineers across the UK. Development accounts for 300 of this number located in 15 offices within the UK.
Specifically supporting the Development part, you will play a key role in the growth aspirations for Basingstoke and Southwest to South and Southeast region. This senior position will be very much centred on client facing activities, technical leadership and business growth, rather than day-to-day operational management and will play an integral part in supporting the initiative to diversify our team, both in staff numbers and revenue. Our client, a leading innovator in renewable energy solutions, is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Apprentice to join their dynamic team in **Oxford, Oxfordshire, UK**. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience and technical skills while working towards a recognised qualification. You will be involved in various aspects of electrical engineering projects, from design and development to testing and maintenance. Responsibilities will include assisting senior engineers with circuit design and schematic development, supporting the assembly and testing of electrical components and systems, learning to use specialised engineering software and tools, conducting basic troubleshooting and repairs, and contributing to project documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in electrical engineering, a good aptitude for problem-solving, and a commitment to learning. You should possess a minimum of GCSEs in Maths, Science, and English or equivalent. A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are essential. This role offers a blend of on-the-job training and off-the-job study, providing a comprehensive pathway to becoming a qualified electrical engineer. This is a Hybrid role, requiring presence in the office for specific training and project work.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior engineers in electrical system design and development.
  • Support the building, testing, and commissioning of electrical prototypes and systems.
  • Learn to operate and maintain electrical testing equipment.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on electrical circuits.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical documentation and reports.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations in the workshop and laboratory.
  • Participate in off-the-job training and theoretical studies as required by the apprenticeship program.
  • Collaborate with team members on various engineering tasks.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, Science, and English at grade C/4 or above.
  • A keen interest in Electrical Engineering and technology.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and undertake formal training.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good communication skills.
