About the Role

A leading manufacturing business in Stonehouse is seeking a reliable and organised Engineering Stores Person on a short-term contract basis. This is a key role within the engineering team, ensuring that all materials, spare parts, and tools are accurately managed and readily available to support maintenance and production activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and store engineering materials and spare parts.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring stock levels are monitored and updated.
• Pick, pack, and issue materials to engineering and maintenance teams as required.
• Support the engineering team with ad-hoc tasks related to stock control and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure all stores operations comply with company safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an engineering stores, maintenance stores, or materials handling role within manufacturing.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic IT skills for stock management systems.

You will need:

• Excellent communications skills: proficient in writing technical documentation and adapt at discussing complex subjects in depth
• Software engineering skills in C or C++ and Linux, demonstrated by prior work on large and complex codebases. Familiarity with common software engineering tools and best practice are essential. Front end development skills in TypeScript/JavaScript and HTML would be useful.
• Full right to work in the UK, and ability to obtain a higher level UK security clearance. Typically this will require you to have British nationality and to have been resident in the UK for 10 years

About the role

We’re looking for a Multi-skilled Engineering Technician to join CHEP – the global leader in pallet, crate, and container pooling. You’ll maintain and improve manufacturing equipment using a multi-skilled approach, working to high safety and reliability standards in a fast-paced, automated environment.

What you’ll do

• Perform proactive and reactive maintenance across site equipment
• Diagnose faults and carry out root cause analysis
• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
• Use CMMS to log and manage maintenance tasks
• Supervise contractors and issue work permits
• Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations

What we need from you
