About the Role :
As an Engineering Inspector, you will ensure that products meet rigorous quality standards, playing a pivotal role in maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence. Key Responsibilities for the Engineering Inspector:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of products and processes to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • li>Analyse inspection data and prepare detailed reports on findings, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Identify non-conformities and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions and resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, tests, and quality assurance activities for traceability and reporting purposes.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality assurance policies, procedures, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure they adhere to guidelines, and proactively recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure that all inspections are carried out in accordance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, etc.).
  • Use measuring tools and equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) to perform precise inspections on metal parts and components.

Required Skills & Experience:

Our ideal Inspector will have:

  • Previous experience working in a metal machining or manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of machining processes and materials.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret inspection data to identify non-conformities and resolve issues.
  • Experience with inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, etc.) and reading engineering drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing corrective actions.

Desirable:

  • Certification or training in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA).
  • Proficiency with quality software or data analysis tools.

  • ‘Champion’ the application of maintenance ‘excellence’ methodology.
  • Dev lop and maintain a maintenance KPI dashboard in engineering and toolroom.
  • Managing compliance to requirements of ISO14001.
  • Develop and manage the AGILITY CMMS system.

**Summary:**
In this role you will be participating a wide range of maintenance engineering activities throughout our production footprint. You will engage with colleagues at multiple levels and from several subject areas, to work together to ensure we deliver an exciting and robust production facility to our clients!
You will take part and take accountability for maintenance activities (planned and unplanned), utilising operational excellence and continuous improvement activities. With the aim of improving equipment reliability and ensuring minimal equipment downtime.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Learn and Assist - Work closely with experienced engineers and technicians to learn about control systems and instrumentation principles, equipment, maintenance principles, equipment, and procedures.
+ Calibration: Assist in the calibration of sensors, and instrumentation devices.
+ Problem solving: Identify and diagnose issues with control systems and instrumentation equipment and assist in resolving them effectively.
+ Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance, repair, and problem solving of machinery, equipment, and facilities to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
+ Preventive Maintenance: Participate in scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to identify and address potential issues before they become critical.
+ Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including equipment specifications, maintenance logs, and calibration reports.
+ Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in control systems and instrumentation technology through training and self-study.
**Knowledge, skill and experience**
+ Entry requirements include a good level of Maths and English -you must have a GCSE grade 4/C or above in both subjects, or a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification.
+ Understand emergency procedures and follow safe systems of work.
+ Only complete tasks that you have the knowledge and competency to complete.
+ Ensure compliance with environment, health and safety rules, signage and instructions always.
+ Strong interest in control systems and instrumentation.
+ Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles is a plus.

**About the apprenticeship**
This hands-on program combines academic study with real-world experience. In the first year, you'll attend Swindon college two days a week to build a strong technical foundation. Your final year is fully work-based, giving you the skills and confidence to thrive in the engineering industry and work towards your End Point Assessment (EPA).

Critical Engineering Supervisor - Oxford - to 62k plus EV car.

Based at a brand new high technology pharma site in Harwell, Oxfordshire, reporting into the contract manager, you will supervise 3 engineers and oversee a variety of subcontractors, which between them carry out reactive and planned maintenance of critical site infrastructure, including HV, LV, Diesel Generators, UPS, clean rooms, labs, de-ionised water, hepa filters etc.

You will ensure Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used and you will operate a permit to work system for subcontractors.

With an Electrical bias, you will have 18th Edition and 2391 Testing and Inspection and a solid understanding of mechanical building services systems. You will have previously managed a team of engineers and preferably have worked in either a pharma or critical environment previously.

This is brand new 5 year plus 2 contract.
