Our client, a Globally recognised organisation are looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Manager for their Poole based Engineering team.
The successful candidate will have a Beng with a structural or mechanical engineering background , and experience of leading a team.
This is a demanding and equally rewarding role that requires an Engineering background, with specific expertise in mechanical or structural engineering. You will demonstrate the ability to deliver complex engineering solutions, mentor individuals within a wider team, and drive innovation by contributing to new ideas and improving existing designs, to meet the evolving industry, and global customer demands.
ENGINEERING MANAGER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of all design projects, (Adhering to global design standards) and act as the lead technical specialist.
- Your exceptional leadership and communication skills will drive project success across all levels of the business, including cross-functional collaboration with non-technical teams.
- Manage and prioritise multiple short- and long-term design projects, ensuring timely delivery to meet customer deadlines.
- Improve existing designs and influence new product development to align with industry trends and customer needs.
- Oversee performance appraisals and development of engineering staff
- Conduct technical review and approval of engineering designs, including using stress analysis software or hand calculations.
- Ensure that all built products, and any design work is completed in accordance with current applicable global design standards. (With particular reference to ASME for the USA, for Europe the EC Machinery Directive and for the UK, The Product Safety and Metrology etc. (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations and their associated requirements for ASME, CE and UKCA marking.)
- Create and review 2D engineering drawings derived from 3D design models, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Ensure all designs are rigorously checked using FEA software, and / or by hand calculation.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that accurate packing drawings for container loading are produced in a timely manner.
- Oversee the design, research and development of new products from initial concepts through to prototyping, testing, pre-production and final release.
- Create, review and maintain engineering documents within the Management System to maintain ISO accreditations - and to complete corrective and preventative actions arising from audits and non-conformance relating to the engineering function.
- Collaborate with the operations team to provide technical support and resources as required.
- Represent the company as a technical expert on advisory panels, groups, committees, or councils
- A Bachelor's degree (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering
- You will be required to be a British / UK National, as the role is security-restricted
- A proven track record of successfully managing engineering teams, demonstrating strong leadership, mentorship, and team development skills.
- Extensive experience with stress analysis & calculations to ensure the strength and safety of designs.
- Confident with 2D drafting and 3D design modeling, as well as reviewing and checking complex calculations and drawings with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong decision-making skills and a reactive approach, with the ability to re-prioritise tasks associated with the changing demands of various projects
- A confident communicator, with experience of collaborating across technical and non-technical teams seamlessly.
- A background in structural engineering / similar mechanical engineering environment and a familiarity with industry standards and regulations around engineering projects

We are seeking a highly collaborative, skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our Non-Nuclear Engineering Partner.
Our Engineering Managers lead multi-discipline teams of design engineers and technicians, working across the full life cycle of project delivery from initial project definition and FED studies through to detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations.
The successful candidate will be able to communicate at all levels, have a passion for quality and the drive to deliver in line with agreed cost and schedule targets. Reporting to our Head of Engineering, they will lead a multi-discipline team of engineering personnel and work in collaboration with our Project and Programme Managers, creating confidence in outcomes, engaging with stakeholders, and implementing appropriate technical decisions.
**Here's What You'll Need**
- A Degree qualified Engineering Manager or demonstrable equivalent underpinning knowledge and understanding and discipline relevant professional experience.
- Proven experience in working with multi-discipline engineering teams in multi-office locations.
- Good all-round technical design experience using British and international standards and Eurocodes.
- Detailed working knowledge of UKCA marking requirements.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage your team's time and workload to deliver against agreed milestones.
- Ability to work effectively as a team leader within a multidisciplinary team liaising directly with team members and the Client.
- Experience and familiarity with designing for delivery/implementation and associated project construction and execution.
- Candidates should be a UK National with security clearance and/ or the ability to obtain SC at the appropriate level.

In this role you will lead the technical and engineering support to manufacturing contractors delivering equipment to site. Reporting to an Operational Lead within the Joint Design Office, you'll work closely with various stakeholders, including contractors, construction teams, quality teams, project management, and design teams, ensuring seamless integration across disciplines.
Your role will be pivotal in supporting site-based engineering by technically managing the contract, helping maintain project schedules, and optimising workflow efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Leading contract technical meetings and attending project meetings
- Steering resolution of technical issues and queries
- Review and approval of contractor deliverables and design where necessary
- Control and Management of the technical and engineering evolution of the contract, including design changes
- Review of contract amendments and exemptions ahead of Project Manager approval
- Coordinate Engineering Multi-Disciplinary Team in Front-Office and back-offices to perform the above tasks.
- Work with the Project Managers on resource and budget planning to ensure the requirements of the contract are met to safety, quality, time and cost

- Help to upskill other members of the team
- Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering or Scientific Discipline
