Our growing environmental planning team is seeking a talented environmental planning consultant to work with our team in Edinburgh. This could be a step-up into a role with more responsibility or the opportunity to change up your current role and work on some fantastic projects across all sectors and consenting strategies within the UK.

**About you**

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to support a key highways infrastructure design contract as part of a national renewals framework. This role offers the chance to contribute to a high-value, multi-disciplinary highways programme, delivering environmentally sound infrastructure solutions in collaboration with stakeholders and technical teams.
The Role
You will be part of a wider environmental team providing expert support on highway drainage and civil schemes. Duties will include:
- Advising on environmental aspects such as assessments, ecological studies, permitting, and mitigation strategies.
- Conducting environmental site visits, inspections, and surveys across multiple disciplines (structures, geotechnical, drainage, highways).
- Preparing high-quality reports and technical documentation for planning submissions and statutory consultations.
- Supporting the preparation and audit of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), and advising on Section 61 consents.
- Coordinating with clients, regulators, and internal teams to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Strong report writing, client liaison, and stakeholder communication skills.
Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related subject.

Principle Responsibilities:
1. Undertake the preparation of Environmental Permit applications (including variations, transfers and surrenders) including liaison with relevant internal project teams and external organisations.
2. Assist with the preparation of Planning Applications and Environmental Impact Assessments including liaison with the relevant internal project teams and external organisations.
3. To prepare or assist as appropriate in the preparation of other technical reports and environmental assessment documents pertinent to the clients’ requirements. These could include, for example, Air Quality Assessments, Noise Assessments, Geological and Hydro geological Assessments, and could be for a range of development proposals.
4. To assist other teams within the Group in respect of waste & recycling, minerals and energy development advice, environmental report preparation and project management.
5. Assist with the organisation and supervision of environmental technical assessments and/or investigations, relating to waste & recycling, minerals and energy developments including in or ex-situ testing where required.
6. Any other duties of a similar nature which may be assigned from time to time.
