Responsibilities:
- Develop, design, and implement advanced mine ventilation strategies and systems to ensure adequate airflow, air quality, and temperature control in underground mining environments.
- Conduct comprehensive site assessments (remotely, through data analysis and virtual tours) to identify ventilation challenges and environmental risks.
- Prepare detailed ventilation plans, reports, and simulations using specialized software.
- Monitor and analyze air quality data, dust levels, and gas concentrations, recommending corrective actions to maintain a safe working atmosphere.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international mining regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental legislation.
- Collaborate closely with mine management, engineers, and safety officers to integrate ventilation and environmental controls into overall mine planning and operations.
- Specify and recommend appropriate ventilation equipment, dust collection systems, and personal protective equipment.
- Develop training materials and deliver remote training sessions on ventilation principles and environmental safety procedures to site personnel.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of ventilation and environmental control practices through research and innovation.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of specialized experience in mine ventilation engineering and environmental management, with a strong focus on underground operations.
- Proficiency in mine ventilation simulation software (e.g., Ventsim, Ventsim visualiser, Minescape).
- In-depth knowledge of mine gases, dust control technologies, and air conditioning systems.
- Understanding of relevant mining legislation and environmental impact assessment processes.
- Proven ability to interpret complex technical data and translate it into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with diverse teams across different time zones.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Certification or membership in relevant professional engineering bodies is advantageous.
