**A little more about your role.**
WSP are seeking Engineers with experience in Water, Drainage and Environmental Engineering for rivers and flood defence projects to expand the growth of our expertise and technical capability. We support clients and projects throughout the UK with a focus on the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and other asset management organisations, providing designs from concept through to detailed designs across a range of sectors.
As part of the role, you will be responsible for:
+ delivery of a wide variety of civil engineering river and flood related schemes;
+ preparing and supporting business cases for works to protect from flooding;
+ developing outline and detailed designs for engineering flood projects including hydraulic systems, flood defences, drainage and ancillary structures etc;
+ working with wider infrastructure clients (internal and external) in designing hydraulic structures (culverts, weirs, walls, outfalls, scour protection etc) associated with large infrastructure projects in highways, rail and property;
+ preparing work schedules and specifications for contractors;
+ carrying out asset inspection works of above and below ground structures;
+ supervise construction works (supported by others where required);
+ working with local authorities and national environmentally based organisations.
We are looking for candidates at Engineer, Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer primarily located in the north of England, who could work from our Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, or Sheffield offices.

+ Degree qualified in civil or flood risk engineering
+ Experience post degree in hydraulic designs associated with river or flood defence works
+ Knowledge and understanding of flood and river diversion design principles and solutions
+ Experience in the use of CAD or Civil 3D
+ Site experience, ideally in a site supervision role
+ Excellent written and verbal communication
+ Demonstratable contribution to the successful delivery of projects/programmes meeting quality and commercial targets

Environmental Specialist is responsible for supporting the Environment & Sustainability Program at McCormick Peterborough site. The role, which reports to the SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) Lead, involves the review and continuous improvement of Environmental policies, practices and processes to assure compliance with local Environmental regulatory requirements whilst applying engineering knowledge to identify and deliver sustainability opportunities aligned to McCormick PLP (Purpose-lead Performance) Agenda.
The role requires a high level of visibility, influencing, training and coaching as well as desk-based activities. Activities will involve day-to-day tasks as well as longer-term continuous improvement projects, new equipment installation and site expansion in a fast, dynamic environment. Priorities may change from time to time subject to organizational assessments and risks.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for Environmental Management System ensuring compliance with statutory duty and on-site leadership of McCormick PLP Sustainability agenda. li>Guide and assist Crew Leads, SHE committee representatives to meet programs and activities required by local law (including workplace audits and incident investigations).
- Follow up implementation of Environment initiatives / provide reports and feedback to regional stakeholders.
- Development Policies and Procedures for Environment related activities and ensures appropriate communication
- Host legislative and compliance audits, ensuring support from cross functional teams to deliver success outcomes.
- Ensure that incident investigations are conducted in a timely manner and follow up action plan
- Prepare daily, weekly and periodic Environmental KPI
- Source and procure site consumables & equipment related to environmental protection
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering or Sustainability field (Chemical, Food Processing, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering) preferred.
- Nebosh Environmental Certificate or equivalent
- Previous experience in Environmental Engineer, Supervisor, Coordinator or similar role.
- Relevant experience in driving sustainability agendas in highly automated process environments - FMCG, pharmaceutical, chemical, oil and gas industry preferred.
- Well-versed with MCP & IPPC Permit, Incident Investigation and UK compliance regulations.
- Previous experience in delivery efficiencies in utility consumption, waste reduction along with designing leading and lagging indicators to drive both physical and cultural behaviours.
- Knowledge of utility tracking and efficiency initiatives.
- Strong communication and diplomacy skills with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct reporting structure.
- Good computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint.

Tier Environmental is seeking an experienced Geoenvironmental engineer to join our expanding consultancy team. The position is primarily hybrid working based at our Bromsgrove office but will also require a willingness to travel.
The successful candidate will form part of a team of engineers, geologists and environmental scientists who are part of the larger Tier Consult Group of civil and structural engineers. We specialise in identifying, quantifying, and reducing abnormal costs to developments at an early stage and provide effective holistic solutions for a range of geotechnical, environmental, and waste management issues for both commercial and private clients.
The successful candidate should have between 1-3years relevant post-graduate experience and should be able to demonstrate a proven track record relating to the management and reporting of contaminated land, geotechnical and civil engineering site investigations. Knowledge and/or experience of remediation and verification work will also be beneficial.
A relevant Masters degree may be beneficial either within geological or environmental science disciplines.
The responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Writing of Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports;
- Design, set up and management of site investigations, including logging of soils and rocks;
- Management of site based sub-contractors;
- Recording and interpretation of site data;
- Scheduling of chemical and geotechnical testing;
- DQRAs; and,
- Preparation of generic and site specific health and safety risk assessments.
The ideal candidate should have experience with the use of borehole software such as HoleBase/AGS and have excellent MS Word and Excel skills.
As the role will involve both client and regulator liaison, strong communication and report writing skills will be required. This role is ideal for a Geoenvironmental Engineer looking to take the next step in their career.
