**_General Purpose of Role_** :
The Environmental Compliance Associate is primarily responsible for ensuring the organisation complies with environmental, and sustainability standards together with providing support for H+S activities onsite. This role involves coordinating initiatives, monitoring performance, and fostering a safe and sustainable work environment while adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
**_Main Responsibilities_** :
+ Support the Director, Technical Services in their responsibilities for environmental initiatives and the ESG program at the Bridgend site.
+ Collect, monitor, and report environmental data, including energy, water usage, and emissions.
+ Oversee and ensure accurate waste data reporting in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
+ Maintain compliance with waste licences and permits, ensuring timely renewals and reporting.
+ Monitor, analyse, and report on energy efficiency; implement initiatives to improve energy performance.
+ Act as Energy Champion for ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) and lead energy-saving projects and activities.
+ Ensure site-level compliance with antibiotic guidelines.
+ Monitor and support compliance with animal health regulations, including data reporting, audits, and corrective actions.
+ Support the implementation of environmental and sustainability awareness training for employees.
**Health and Safety**
+ Support the Support the UK EHS Manager and Director, Technical Services in their responsibilities for health & safety and meeting site and global KPIs including:
+ Operation of the Global Safety Management System (SMS) at the Bridgend site.
+ Develop and maintain health and safety information e.g. posters, guides, etc., in response to site requirements.
+ Maintain the EHS accident Smartsheet database for Bridgend; follow up on accidents and near misses; assist the UK EHS Manager in investigating serious incidents and, if necessary, report the same to H&S Executive.
+ Perform risk assessments and COSHH; maintain EHS risk assessment records and support training for other departments.
+ Support safety projects and initiatives as required at the Bridgend site and participate in global safety initiatives and projects as identified within the EHS global safety team.
+ Oversee first aid requirements for the site and lead the First Aid team.
+ Conduct fire drills and oversee the Fire Marshalls on site.
+ Conduct H&S induction training and other safety-related training as required.
+ Oversee the DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessments for staff.
**Other Duties**
+ Act as a representative for any EHS functions as required at meetings, ensuring any directives are prior approved.
+ Assist in any other reasonable tasks related to the company's activities.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental, health, and safety compliance.
**_Specific Qualifications:_**
Ideally, Health & Safety qualification/certification (minimum IOSH or equivalent).
**_Specific Knowledge / Skills Competence_** :
+ Knowledge of waste management, energy efficiency, environmental data reporting, and relevant environmental licences.
+ Experience in energy monitoring and implementing energy-saving initiatives; familiarity with ESOS requirements.
+ Ability to collect, analyse, and report environmental, waste, and safety data accurately.
+ Understanding of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and COSHH.
+ Competence in conducting site audits, identifying non-compliance, and implementing corrective actions.
+ Experience in conducting H&S inductions, environmental awareness, and other safety-related training.
**Specific Knowledge / Skills Competence** :
+ Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, produce clear reports, and deliver effective training.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data management systems (e.g., Smartsheet).
+ Ability to identify issues, analyse root causes, and implement practical solutions

Our growing UK&I Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team is looking for a Principal Environmental Compliance & Permitting Consultant in Ireland to support the delivery of the EHS compliance and permitting business across our existing client base and new clients. The role is to participate with our team in the delivery of a broad range of EHS compliance and permitting services across many sectors including, but not limited to, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals/Biopharmaceuticals, Water, Alternative Fuels, Hi Tech, Commercial and Energy.
This role would suit a consultant with proven industry experience in environmental compliance and permitting. Experience in Industrial Emissions / Integrated Pollution Control licensing in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector is important. Some health and safety experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards would also be beneficial.
You will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the Environmental compliance and permitting business in the UK and Ireland. Based within a specialist team but working as part of the wider AECOM business you would provide environmental compliance and permitting support across all industry sectors, through a combination of global framework agreements and site-specific commissions. You would support AECOM's clients from established process industries, manufacturing and power generation companies with the management of compliance requirements for current and planned activities. **Environmental Permitting and Compliance Support**
+ Advising clients on the implications for their business of legislation, environmental regulatory guidance and Best Available Techniques (BAT) to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, best practice and BAT standards. This could include undertaking licence compliance studies, liability risk assessments and BAT studies.
+ Assist clients in developing and implementing mitigation measures, management plans, and management systems. Managing and completing EHS audits including legal and operational compliance.
+ Support the preparation and submission of environmental permit/licence applications particularly in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector.
+ Help ensure ongoing compliance with permit/licence conditions and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards
**Regulator and Stakeholder Engagement**
+ Facilitate engagement with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.

**Job Description**
AECOM has and exciting opportunity for an Environmental Compliance & Permitting Consultant to join our UK & Ireland EHS Team within the Environment and Energy business at consultant grade. You will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the Environmental Permitting business in the UK and Ireland.
Based within a specialist team but working as part of the wider AECOM business you would provide environmental compliance and permitting support across all industry sectors, through a combination of global framework agreements and site specific commissions. You would support AECOM's clients from established process industries, manufacturing and power generation companies with the management of compliance requirements for current and planned activities. AECOM is also helping to shape the development of good compliance practice for the transition to a low carbon economy.
This role would suit a consultant with some post qualified experience in environmental compliance and permitting, some health and safety experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards would also be beneficial
**As our EHS & Remediation team covers UK & I , and as we support hybrid working we are flexible in terms of base location. This position can be based from our offices in Birmingham, Chesterfield, Leeds, Manchester or Nottingham.**
**_Here's what you'll do:_**
**Environmental Permitting**
+ Deliver Environmental Permit applications, variations, transfers, and surrenders for a variety of clients across the UK and Ireland.
**Environmental Assessment & Risk Management**
+ Conduct environmental risk assessments to identify potential environmental impacts and risks.
+ Develop and implement mitigation measures and management plans to minimise impacts and enhance performance.
**Compliance & Regulatory Advisory**
+ Advise clients on the implications of legislation, regulatory guidance, and Best Available Techniques (BAT).
+ Ensure client compliance with relevant environmental legislation, best practice, and BAT standards.
**Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration**
+ Support clients in regulator and stakeholder engagement.
+ Work collaboratively with EHS colleagues and the wider Environment team to deliver robust assessments.
**Environmental Auditing**
+ Carry out environmental audits, including assessments of legal compliance.

**Here's what we're looking for:**
**Education**
+ A base first degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or science discipline.
**Experience**
+ Demonstrable experience in an industrial or consultancy role.
+ A strong track record in successfully delivering Environmental Permitting compliance services and preparing the associated documentation.
**Technical Knowledge**
+ Extensive working knowledge of relevant UK National and European environmental legislation.
**Skills**
+ Excellent report writing, technical reviewing, and communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team across a range of projects, including those with tight deadlines.
**Personal Attributes**
+ Proactive and positive attitude with strong team collaboration skills.
+ Confident in liaising with colleagues, industrial clients, and regulators.
