Job Description
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing soil and groundwater investigations, including intrusive site sampling and characterization.
- Conducting detailed chemical and physical analysis of soil and groundwater samples.
- Interpreting site investigation data and developing Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) to understand contaminant pathways and risks.
- Designing and implementing remediation strategies for contaminated land, including excavation, in-situ treatment, and containment methods.
- Preparing comprehensive technical reports, including site investigation reports, risk assessments, remediation strategies, and completion reports.
- Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with relevant environmental legislation and industry standards (e.g., BS10175, relevant EA guidance).
- Providing expert advice on soil contamination issues to clients, regulators, and internal teams.
- Developing and mentoring junior environmental scientists and engineers.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies, clients, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Estimating costs and preparing tender proposals for environmental investigation and remediation projects.
- Contributing to the development of the company’s technical expertise in soil science and land contamination.
- Overseeing the safe execution of site works, including the management of drilling contractors and site personnel.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree or PhD in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Geology, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in contaminated land assessment and remediation.
- Strong knowledge of soil chemistry, geochemistry, contaminant hydrogeology, and environmental fate and transport processes.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing various remediation technologies.
- Proficiency in using GIS and groundwater modeling software is an advantage.
- Excellent understanding of UK environmental regulations and guidelines related to land contamination.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Full UK driving license is required.

Basic Qualifications

- Possess knowledge and experience of ASTM Phase I standards and other environmental protocols, understand core business and legal concepts of business transactions, with continued interest in working on transactions.
- Experience in development and implementation of standards, policies and programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a dynamic, changing/growing organization. Experience demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. Exceptional organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to collaborate with multiple interested parties with a variety of goals and objectives. The ability to manage a high-volume workload. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Additional language fluency is a bonus.

As a Workplace Health & Safety Real Estate Due Diligence & Remediation Manager, you will be responsible for partnering with various stakeholders and teams around the world to support real estate transactions. You will perform transaction related due diligence, scope and manage remediation projects, develop Amazon standards and policy, and implement and execute the requirements of the program. In this role, you will assist in managing these programs at the corporate level and ensure that risks and liabilities are appropriately evaluated and mitigated as a part of our transactions.
To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional organizational and communication skills and be able to send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You possess site assessment and investigation program knowledge, understand the regulatory environment, and demonstrate this expertise when working with internal and external teams.
Key job responsibilities
Provide a single point of contact to transaction teams to support them on understanding and executing Amazonu2019s due diligence program.
Complete reviews of due diligence-related information including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, historical reports, regulatory agency assessments, health-risk assessments and vapor mitigation plans.
Evaluate and investigate potential exposure risks from building materials or property conditions including but not limited to asbestos containing materials, lead-based paint, and vapor intrusion.
Scope and manage phase II site investigations.
