You will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and integration of advanced battery systems for electric vehicles. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of battery chemistry, electrochemistry, thermal management, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and pack design. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of high-performance, safe, and reliable EV battery packs and modules.
- Specify battery cell requirements, module architecture, and pack components (e.g., cooling systems, busbars, structural elements).
- Develop and refine Battery Management System (BMS) requirements, algorithms, and software interfaces.
- Conduct detailed analysis of battery performance, including energy density, power output, cycle life, and thermal behavior.
- Oversee and execute rigorous testing and validation protocols for battery systems, including performance, durability, and safety testing.
- Collaborate with suppliers to select and qualify battery cells and other key components.
- Work closely with vehicle integration teams to ensure seamless integration of battery systems into the overall EV architecture.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to battery performance, safety, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant automotive standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices for battery systems.
- Stay abreast of emerging battery technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the battery engineering team.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings, providing expertise on battery system design and integration.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in EV battery system design and development.
- In-depth knowledge of lithium-ion battery chemistries, cell manufacturing, and pack integration.
- Strong understanding of BMS hardware and software functions, including state estimation, cell balancing, and fault detection.
- Experience with thermal management systems for battery packs.
- Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, COMSOL) for battery modeling and analysis.
- Familiarity with automotive development processes (e.g., APQP, FMEA) and safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
- Experience in conducting battery testing and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.
