As a Production Operator you will ensure the safe production of all aluminium slabs in the Casthouse, conforming to the correct sizes and following the scheduled requirements from the Planning Department.
Responsibilities:
- Identify the different formats and purities of scrap to load into furnaces to provide the correct specification of molten aluminium required. li>Follow the ODS’s to provide sufficient, clean, specified molten metal ready for casting the sizes of slabs in accordance with the schedule. < i>Check identification and dimensions of slab to the required length conforming to the slab identification.
- Accurately record data on Computer system and production sheets
- Participate with maintenance to improve machine reliability.
- Keep equipment and work areas clean and organized to a 6s standard.
Requirements :
- A minimum of two years experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of the production environment and ability to work to targets and deadlines.
- Advise on all downtime issues and requirements needed to ensure efficient production.
- Have a technical aptitude and be customer focused.
- Be able to work as part of a team and show initiative and a positive attitude.
Working hours : 42 hour over a four day shift pattern working two 12 hour days from 6am-6pm, two 12 hour nights from 6pm-6am followed by four rest days

Our client is currently recruiting Production Operators for their well established business based in the Barugh Green area of Barnsley.
Positions are Temporary to Permanent roles, Immediate Starts and weekly pay.
This is a temporary to permanent position, giving you the chance to demonstrate your skills and to secure a long-term career.

- Experience with hands-on machinery, ideally from the automotive or plastics industry
- Familiarity with CNC machines or construction site labouring desirable
- A passion for learning and a willingness to gain new skills
Working Hours:
You will work all 3 shifts on a weekly rotation - Mornings, afternoons, and nights, totalling 39 hours per week. The exact shift times are as follows:
- Mornings: 6am to 2pm, Monday to Thursday; 6am to 1pm on Fridays
- Afternoons: 2pm to 10pm, Monday to Thursday; 1pm to 8pm on Fridays
- Nights: 10pm to 6am, Monday to Thursday; 8pm to 3am on Fridays

- Forklift Operation : Operate forklift truck and move freight around the warehouse, ensuring goods are stored correctly and safely. This includes transporting goods to and from staging areas, loading docks, and storage locations.

- Documentation : Accurately document all goods moved, received, or dispatched using handheld devices or warehouse management systems.
- Collaboration : Work closely with other warehouse staff, freight handlers, and logistics coordinators to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Requirements:
- Experience as a forklift operator.
- Valid counter balance certification is required.
- Checkable 5-year history and a clean DBS.
- Knowledge of freight handling and international shipping procedures is an advantage
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
