**Job Description**
U.S. Banks is seeking an External Communications Lead for our business in Europe. This individual will work with our business divisions and enabling functions in Europe and the Public Affairs and Communications team to broaden our brand awareness in Europe. They will develop and implement strategic communication plans that will assist in meeting company goals and objectives by enhancing visibility around topics of strategic importance.
The ideal candidate evaluates complex information and strategically determines appropriate strategies and tactics to increase visibility in alignment with company goals. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with reporters and news outlets, identifying storytelling opportunities, developing content, prepping executives for interviews and speaking engagements. This role engages directly with external audiences, including members of the media, on behalf of U.S. Bank. The candidate will also support the Head of Communications with ad-hoc projects for U.S. Bank in Europe.
**Key accountabilities:**
Responsible for planning and executing communication strategies to ensure effective, compelling communication on behalf of U.S. Bank Europe to employees, shareholders, and the community. Works with various business groups and senior management to develop and implement strong communication plans that will assist in meeting company goals and objectives.
**Skills & experience required:**
+ Eight+ years of experience in communications activities
+ Strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities.
+ Experience interacting with news outlets in support of media relations activities
+ Proven communication management skills

**Position Summary**

**A day in the life of a Global Internal & External Communications Lead.**
This is a varied role that will see you work across multiple functions to build and execute plans at a global level, and support local markets, including building their capabilities by managing a global communication Champions network. You will also:
+ Lead the development and execution of the annual strategic communications plan aligned to the business's agenda.
+ Manage campaigns by developing and executing the NW&PB holistic editorial calendar. Plans would include development of 'plug and play' tools and actions for global and multi-market use.
+ Create a comprehensive strategy together with programs to support the CEO and senior leaders in sharing business performance updates, managing and coordinating the delivery of key messages.

You will possess a wealth of experience in internal and external communications at a global scale, particularly within a forward thinking, matrixed organization. Exceptional communication skills, coupled with a high level of energy and a passion for delivering results, are essential. You will have a proven track record of driving innovation in communications and collaborating effectively with diverse teams to engage various audiences through multiple channels. Having the ability to develop and execute strategic plans is a must. Additionally, you will have experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, whilst leading an experienced team to be the best they can be.
You will also have proven experience in:
+ Leading innovation in internal and external communications.
+ Crafting, shaping, and executing narratives to increase reputation
+ Strategic communication management skills (media management, storytelling, agency management, timing, budget etc).
