SALARY: 12.70PH (31.5K) + Bonus Increasing To 15.84PH (39.5K) Once Fully Trained + Overtime Paid 1 1/6 Over 60 Hours X2
Hours: 2 Week rotating shifts
1 Week Days: Monday to Thursday 6:00am - 6:00pm
1 Week Nights: Monday to Thursday 6:00pm - 6:00am
My client is a leading manufacturer of high-quality polythene products, supplying a wide range of sectors across the UK. They pride themselves on delivering exceptional quality, reliability and customer service. As part of their continued growth, they are looking for a skilled Machine Operator / Extrusion Operator to join their production team.
The chosen candidate will be a proactive member of the team, working within the extrusion department, producing high-quality polythene products. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to maintaining production standards are essential.
Experience within bagging or polythene conversion would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor extrusion machinery to produce polythene film and products to specification.
- Set up machines, adjust settings, and ensure optimal performance during production runs.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure products meet required standards and customer specifications.
- Carry out basic maintenance and troubleshooting on extrusion and associated equipment.
- Work closely with the production team to meet daily and weekly production targets.
- Follow health & safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Accurately complete production records and reporting as required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Machine Operator, Extrusion Operator, or within a similar manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of bagging, polythene extrusion, or plastic film production would be highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

It would be advantageous if you had previous operating experience on extrusion, or general plastic manufacturing machines (injection mould, blow mould, rubber mould etc)

Role Description

- Ensure all Operators are working safely and wearing all required PPE when needed.
- Take responsibility for ensuring customer orders are set up to specification.
- Operate all machinery within the department, including inline recycling machines.
- Contribute in the improvement of H&S systems and practices within the department.
- To attend H&S training courses to develop personal knowledge and skills.
- Assisting management with updating Safe Working Procedures.
- Identify and report any machine defects/problems to the Shift Manager / Team Leader or the Engineering Manager.
- Support the Technical Team with plant / product trials
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of H&S legislation
- Knowledge of ISO Management systems
- Experience of recycling or the plastics industry
- Some mechanical knowledge of plastics processing machinery
