Senior Formula One Aerodynamicist
Job Description
Create new geometries using CAD;
Submit geometries to test in both WT and CFD and manage the process;
Analyse results from CFD and wind tunnel and recommend track test of performant geometries;
Define, specify and manage effective and efficient wind tunnel tests;
Conduct wind tunnel testing (some shift work will be required).
Professionalism
Suggest, investigate, (and where applicable) implement new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis and reporting;
Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the projects;
To work in a professional manner at all times regardless of the task set and be pro-active in promoting a positive image for the department / team/ sponsors.
Mentoship and Communication
Work with the team leader and deputy team leader to develop innovative aerodynamic concepts;
Oversee the work of aerodynamicists and junior aerodynamicists within their group. Advise and mentor them to improve their skills set;
Maintain and develop good relationships with aero performance group, aerodynamics development group leaders and senior aero management;
Communicate effectively with other groups such as model design, model shop, aero technology group, CFD methodology group, aero production and wind tunnel systems group.

Qualifications
At least four years' experience in F1 aerodynamics development required.
Strong, broad understanding of aerodynamics to degree level or above.
A strong technical understanding of CFD and wind tunnel test techniques.
Experience of running WT testing programs.
Good CAD skills.
Initiative and Innovation.
Team-player attitude and the ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
The capacity to lead a project, solve complex problems and achieve performance targets within strict deadlines.

- Develop and validate aerodynamic models, ensuring accuracy and correlation with experimental data.
- Optimize aircraft performance for key parameters such as lift, drag, stability, and control.
- Collaborate closely with design, structures, systems, and flight test teams to integrate aerodynamic requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior aerodynamicists, fostering technical excellence within the team.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in aerodynamic theory, computational methods, and experimental techniques.
- Prepare and present technical reports, findings, and recommendations to management and project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and airworthiness standards.
- Contribute to the strategic planning of aerodynamic research and development efforts.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related field with a specialization in Aerodynamics.
- Significant (8+ years) experience in aerospace aerodynamics, including experience with full aircraft design cycles.
- Expertise in CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+) and meshing tools.
- Proficiency in aerodynamic design and analysis tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
- Demonstrated experience with wind tunnel testing and data reduction.
- Strong understanding of flight dynamics and control systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Superb communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to lead technical discussions.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
