Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities:
- Reactive maintenance on a variety of mechanical machinery across the site
- Investigating faults with plant and equipment, completing any necessary repairs
- Supporting the day-to-day manufacturing process
- Effective recording and monitoring of all engineering/production-based issues
- Troubleshooting problems and suggesting improvements
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Details:
- Location: Oldbury, Birmingham
- Salary: 35,000 - 37,000 PA
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.00pm and Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Requirements:

The Opportunity

The Role
As a maintenance engineer , you’ll work with a range of heavy-duty automated machinery including:
- Large mixers and slicers
- Conveyors, silos, and hoppers
- Kilns, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems
Your focus will be 70% reactive and 30% PPM , using a tablet system for job tracking. While multi-skilled competency is key, this role places a strong emphasis on mechanical maintenance and repair . You’ll need to be confident working with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and chains. Fabrication and welding experience is a plus.
The Person We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role as a maintenance engineer , you’ll need:
- A strong background in mechanical maintenance within industrial or manufacturing environments
- Experience working on gearboxes, motors, belts, pulleys, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Confidence with strip-downs, rebuilds, and reactive mechanical fault diagnosis
- An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in engineering (ex-Forces welcome)
- A proactive attitude and flexibility for overtime and development

My client based in Blackpool are searching for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a unique shift pattern consisting of earlies, days. lates and some weekend work. During x3 months out of the year you will work Monday to Friday only (8 hour shifts). Duties include planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum and safety is the number one priority.

THE ROLE

- Able to produce technical reports with good working knowledge of maintenance systems.
