The Role

The Faculty Assistant provides a broad range of administrative support, including as course administrator for teaching on degree and other programmes. Providing assistance to assigned faculty whilst working closely with members of the administrative team, within and outside the department to provide a high-quality experience to students, faculty and staff.
9 Month Fixed Term Contract
Please note, during the probation period this role will require full on-site attendance. Thereafter, this role will be based on-campus 2 days per week.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide timely and accurate administrative support for all Degree Education and PhD courses offered by the department.
- Liaise with the Central Services team and Programme Offices to ensure efficient and accurate processing of grades, the administration of elective course examinations and all other elements of assessment.
- Coordinate all areas of course administration including organising room bookings, catering and events, organising of speakers, gifts, catering.
- Provide secretarial support for assigned faculty members and academic visitors utilising office systems and Microsoft Office.
- Diary Management, scheduling meetings and making travel arrangements for faculty members and visitors.
- Responsible for organising events, such as the annual Recruitment and Research Seminars as well as providing administrative support for Academic conferences.
- Liaise across the School to ensure the smooth delivery of activities, enabling an excellent student and stakeholder experience.
Ideal Candidate
- A confident IT user, competent in use of databases, spreadsheets, as well as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to providing an outstanding level of customer service.
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Skilled in handling a busy workload, prioritising multiple deadlines, and demonstrating a proven ability to use initiative.
- Proven ability to have successful interactions with individuals at all levels: experience of working with senior executives, support staff, as well as working within a team.

The Role and the Department
The technician will work flexibly across social science disciplines and departments within the faculty to support the day to day running of research, teaching and commercial laboratories. This full-time role will include a 50 percent allocation of time to the Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences, with the remaining time split between the Departments of Geography, Archaeology, Education and Anthropology as need dictates. It is anticipated that within the first year of the position that alongside 50 percent of time spent working in Sport and Exercise Sciences, allocated blocks of time will be spent within other faculty departments with training provided in discipline specific laboratories. Once initial developmental training has been completed the role will become more responsive to departmental needs, alongside 50 percent of time spent in Sport and Exercise Sciences.

About the role
The Faculty Executive Coordinator provides proactive and high-level executive support to the Dean/Deputy, Associate Deans and the Director of Administration, taking responsibility for designated areas of work and activities within the Faculty including support to research related activities, executive committees and overarching support for the delivery of our strategic goals.
This is a senior and responsible position, which involves dealing with a wide range of matters, sometimes of a highly confidential nature and interaction with high profile internal and external visitors to the Faculty.
