The Role

As a Field Applications Engineer, you'll work closely with customers and sales teams to support new product designs, deliver technical demonstrations, solve complex engineering challenges and help secure design wins.

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role where you'll work with advanced development tools and technologies while building trusted relationships with customers.

We're Looking For

You'll have experience in one or more of the following:

  • FPGA or Adaptive SoC technologies
  • Embedded Software or Embedded Linux
  • ARM-based SoCs or Embedded Computing
  • Hardware/software integration
  • High-speed interfaces or communication protocols

Previous FAE experience is beneficial but not essential. We also welcome Applications Engineers, Design Engineers and Embedded Engineers looking to move into a customer-facing role.

The Role

The Field Applications Engineer supports customers onsite with the deployment, operation and demonstration of AirPixel products, combining hands‑on technical support, product demonstrations and customer‑facing engineering with a strong feedback loop into our engineering and product teams. When not deployed with customers, you will be based at our Buckingham site, playing a key role in User Acceptance Testing of new releases and helping shape the product roadmap with field‑driven insight.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Onsite Customer Support : Deliver onsite technical support to customers using AirPixel products across broadcast, live event and production environments - from pre-event preparation, through rigging to live operation and post-event debrief.
  • Product Demonstrations : Lead and deliver product demonstrations to prospective and existing customers, both at customer sites and at industry events.
  • Events and Exhibitions : Represent AirPixel at trade shows, exhibitions and customer events worldwide.
  • Customer Relationships : Build strong, trusted relationships with customer engineering and production teams, acting as the voice of the customer internally.

About You
  • At least 1 years experience in a broadcast engineering, live production engineering or product role.

Role Summary

The role requires a Field Engineer with developed knowledge and significant experience of RF systems, and an understanding of networking principles. Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Warwick for a Field Application Engineer – Customer Projects. Your Responsibilities

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automotive, or Computer Science Engineering (MSc preferred).
  • Strong understanding of automotive communication protocols – CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with HIL/SIL solutions (e.g. dSPACE, Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, ETAS, Synopsys Silver or similar).
  • Good understanding of embedded systems and ECU testing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer interaction skills.
  • A self‑motivated problem solver with curiosity and initiative.
  • Based near Warwick, with willingness to travel occasionally across the UK and Europe.

OPAL-RT is a leader in real-time simulation, rapid control prototyping (RCP) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing for the design, testing and optimization of control and protection systems used in power grids, power electronics and electrical drives. Surpassing And Stimulating Challenges Mission
  • After-sales technical support: on a day-to-day basis, you will provide technical support to existing customers and carry out projects and deliveries for new customers, the commissioning of the systems, as well as the training of users.
  • Training and commissioning.
  • Pre-sales technical support: upstream of projects, you will support various sales managers by carrying out feasibility studies or demonstrations.

Requirements
  • Education: Diploma in the fields of electrical engineering.
  • Experience: Ideally significant experience in modeling complex systems such as electrical conversion and drives, mechatronic systems, control/command. Beginners accepted, depending on the profile.
