We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to provide financial support to the Business School, contributing to the professional, high quality administrative service that supports the delivery of the school’s objectives.
The role will provide financial administrative support. Key tasks include processing purchase orders, expense claims and invoices. This role will bring you into regular contact with both Professional Services and Academic colleagues at all levels.
The postholder will liaise with other areas of the University and external organisations in order to support the financial administration of the School and to ensure compliance with University financial systems, procedures and controls.

Finance Operations sits within the Group Finance Team; we are a small but key team based mainly in Norwich. We are responsible for all transactional finance activities, including accounts payable and receivable, cash and bank administration, corporate and procurement cards and the corporate contracts that support our colleagues across the whole HM Treasury Group.

About the Job
In this role, you will:
· Reconcile HM Treasury group bank accounts, recording daily cash management activities and completing month end close-down activities for the Cash management, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable modules in our financial system.
· Complete a monthly schedule of reconciliations for the various control accounts, including payroll costs and staff debtor accounts liaising with the Finance, HR & Payroll teams, Oracle system team and our payroll provider to investigate any variances or resolve errors on upload.
· Process sales invoice requests, banking payments and receipts, recording income and building the weekly BACs payment run batches. Ensure the validity and accuracy of data recorded in our financial systems and that all queries and discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
· Manage queries received via the teams’ shared mailboxes and Marval, responding in a timely manner and working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver exceptional customer service to our key stakeholders.
· Assist with the collation of information required for the completion, submission and publication of cross government returns including monthly KPI figures.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our dedicated finance team at our Doncaster site. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and a passion for finance who wants to play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our accounts function.
Key Responsibilities
As a Finance Assistant, you will:
- Assist with the preparation of month-end management accounts.
- Produce financial accounts up to trial balance stage, including accruals and prepayments.
- Conduct month-end balance sheet reconciliations and prepare financial reports.
- Support weekly cash flow forecasting.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and year-end audit documentation.
- Analyse monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Liaise with key stakeholders across departments to ensure effective communication.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and undertake additional administrative or project work as required.
About You
You will have a strong eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You’ll be motivated, organised, and comfortable working to tight deadlines. Recent graduates in Finance or a related subject could be of interest
Essential Skills and Experience
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Good knowledge of current accounting standards and experience in producing management accounts.
- Previous experience working within an accountancy or finance function.
- GCSEs (A*–C) in Maths and English or equivalent.
- Studying towards or holding a professional accounting qualification (AAT / CIMA / ACCA / ACA).
Desirable
- Experience using Business Central software.
