About The Role

Are you ready to play a vital role in ensuring safety and compliance? As a Fire Safety Officer, you will be the guardian of our fire and safety equipment, ensuring everything is in top-notch condition and regularly monitored. Your keen eye for detail will help you compile reports on any faults related to our fire alarm system.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting weekly fire alarm tests and visual inspections of fire extinguishers across all venues.
• Performing regular fire safety checks and completing monthly reports to enforce fire safety regulations.
• Maintaining the Fire Safety portal and Logbook to ensure compliance with our Fire Policy.
• Providing Fire Warden training to team members, enhancing their understanding of fire safety.
• Collaborating with external contractors and liaising with the Fire & Rescue Service to ensure compliance with fire regulations.
• Investigating fire incidents and providing guidance to prevent future occurrences.
• Contributing to new builds and modifications by advising on fire safety requirements.
• Conducting Fire Risk Assessments and ensuring timely resolution of any issues raised.
• Organizing at least one fire drill per year for each venue/department.

To thrive in this role, you should ideally have:

• The NEBOSH Fire Certificate (if you don’t have it, you’ll need to complete it within your first year).
• Experience in Fire Risk Assessment.
• A training qualification (preferred but not essential; training can be provided).

You must also be prepared to undertake the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

Pay Rate: £14.33 per hour
Hours: Full-time - 42 hours a week
Shifts: Days, nights and weekends

Your Time at Work

Your duties include:

- Sprinkler and pump testing
- Break glass testing
- Issue of the Hot Work permits
- Testing and maintenance of standby extinguishers
- Be readily available for standbys, drain downs, emergency response, fires, floods, spillages and burst fire mains or any jobs which come in (when the maintenance teams are working on sprinkler alarm system - standby required.)
- Safety walks (Housekeeping) of buildings during production hours i.e. no obstructions to fire equipment etc.
- Recorded patrols as laid out on rota or as required
- Covering other duties on a rota basis
- Clean fire equipment and bay
- Trained to SLA requirements
- Basic knowledge of all Fire bulletins
- Conduct a visual walk round of buildings
- Report any faults via the in house maintenance systems.
- Operate the radio system
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Read and 'action' e-mails.

Our Perfect Worker

Our perfect worker will need to be aged 18 or over, a confident communicator who is a team player with the drive to provide a friendly and professional service at all times. Experience in preventative fire methods, plumbing and electrical knowledge. Having Good IT knowledge is also key.

You must be flexible and available to work on a varied shift pattern which will include days, nights and weekends.
