Key Responsibilities
Independently carry out a range of tasks in the field of analytics, including qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis of various materials associated with the Company's operations.

Working Pattern

Responsibilities
As an experienced Quality Control Manager and team leader you will provide effective and efficient governance oversight and reporting services to the UK COO and their leadership team with a holistic view on our reporting obligations and controls attestations (incl. JSOX controls). Some of the expected responsibilities include:
Underwriting Operations Quality Control: Lead the quality control framework for the end-to-end underwriting operations processes provided by Operations both directly and through outsource providers. This will include:
Spearhead the design and implementation of a robust quality control framework specific to underwriting support processes (e.g. pre-bind checks, documentation review, bordereaux handling, data entry, endorsements, referrals).
- Ensuring adherence to and alignment with the quality control framework, business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Create and monitor the controls required to verify the completeness and accuracy of data in line with appropriate standards including but not limited to JSOX Requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews of Sompo's Underwriting operations tasks focusing on documentation accuracy, adherence to underwriting guidelines, service level compliance, and regulatory standards (e.g., Lloyd's, FCA, GDPR).
- Monitor risk data input, rating tool usage, policy issuance accuracy, authority breaches, and system integrity across core underwriting platforms.
- Monitor exceptions and own investigation towards successful resolution.
- Develop close relationships with underwriting teams and other functions (cross geographical) to align QC standards with technical underwriting expectations.
Work with compliance, risk, and audit to ensure all operational processes meet internal control and regulatory requirements.
Data Quality standards: Oversee and manage the full lifecycle of Data Quality Risk Reviews, including the initiation, documentation and resolution tracking. This will include:
Conduct detailed root cause analysis to identify trends and systemic issues impacting data quality (standards, controls, and remediation strategies).
Ensure alignment with Underwriting Guidelines, working closely with Underwriting, Compliance, and Data Management teams.
Process Optimisation: Driving the continuous improvement of service delivery processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This will include:
Proactively lead on identifying process optimisation opportunities and deliver, in collaboration with other teams and third parties (where applicable) BAU enhancements to:
reduce turnaround times, improving first-time accuracy, and enhancing underwriter satisfaction.
- streamline workflows.
identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, handoff issues and/or duplication of effort.
In collaboration with UK Change & Transformation, proactively support functional enhancements of Operations processes, including through the deployment of automation initiatives, including ensuring adherence to and/or updating of relevant controls.
- Supporting Operations teams, both onshore and offshore, by being a process subject matter expert on key underwriting processes.
- Business as usual activities that also include the following:
- Reporting: assume responsibility for all necessary QC reporting requirements into the operational management dashboard in an accurate and timely manner, including the preparation of regular quality and efficiency reports, all in collaboration with the Governance & Controls Oversight Manager.
- Training and Development: working closely with team leaders, identify training needs and future trends/themes to support the provision of training and development opportunities to enhance Operations skills and knowledge.
- Cross- collaboration and stakeholder management: building strong relationships as well as role-modelling collaboration across the wider Operations space (with both on- and offshore teams) by acting as a subject matter expert on key underwriting processes and their controls.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum years' experience in overseeing and delivering Quality Controls/Assurance reviews
- A good understanding of Operations (preferably within the London Insurance Market, but other industries would be considered as well).
- Experienced and confident team leader who fosters strong collaboration and positive/constructive engagement within the team and wider Operations function.
- A good understanding of Sarbannes-Oxley Controls and Disclosure Requirements, JSOX Controls and regulatory compliance.
