The Role:
Our nationwide Plant and Tool division hires a range of equipment including diggers, dumpers and small power tools to companies within the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors.
As part of a fast-paced, busy depot, the Foreman is responsible for the efficient running of the workshop including maximising the availability of plant for hire, allocating/monitoring the workload of the depot Fitters and ensuring that all equipment is maintained and kept in working order at all times. As a Foreman, you will be responsible for supporting and developing your team to maximise performance whilst ensuring the health and safety of all employees within the depot workshop.
Candidates applying for the role of Foreman should demonstrate the following:
- Proven experience working as in a senior plant mechanic/fitter role with a relevant mechanical qualification or time served
- Sound and current knowledge of heavy plant machinery maintenance
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to develop and manage teams within a fast-paced workshop environment
- A valid driving licence is essential

Carrington West are seeking a Highways General Foreman to be based on a major highways project in Cambridgeshire .
Working on a National Highways project inCambridgeshire, you will be tasked with looking after the drainage package on this scheme.
As the successful General Foreman, you will be working alongside a team of Supervisors to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
Experience with being a General Foreman on site especially within the Highways sector is a must here.
SMSTS/SSSTS will be required alongside experience with planning resource, RAMS and method statements.

You will join a leading highway contractor working on a number of cycleway/footpath enhancement schemes across Cambridge.
This project focusses on the development of dedicated cycleways integrated into existing highway infrastructure. Key activities include the widening of current footpaths-either toward adjacent land or into the carriageway-and resurfacing of the surrounding area to improve accessibility and safety.
Additional scope of work includes the installation of traffic-calming measures such as speed bumps, updated signage, road markings, and selective junction reconfiguration to enhance flow and safety.
Delivery is managed through an established supply chain, which we oversee to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. While direct site involvement is minimal, occasional visits are conducted to support specific tasks such as temporary drainage installations and fencing setup.

Our Welfare Services division hires a range of portable chemical toilets and ADA approved wheelchair access units alongside mobile eco welfare units.
Based in our workshop/yard the Foreman will ensure that the workshop runs smoothly and efficiently day in day out. You will be responsible for supporting and developing your colleagues and making sure that all equipment is maintained, PAT tested where necessary and in good working order at all times. You will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the depot vehicles are kept to a high standard.

- Experience working in a similar position at a supervisory or managerial level
- Training will be given, however relevant experience is essential.
- A working knowledge of Welfare equipment is preferable.
