Job Description
We're seeking talented freelance photographers to capture high-quality images in hair and beauty salons. Ideal candidates have strong portfolios in lifestyle/commercial photography and a keen eye for detail. This ongoing partnership offers flexibility and continuously engaging projects with a leading beauty industry platform.
Requirements
Optimal Visual Content: Photography Guidelines
Aim for a minimum of 17 images per session, categorised as follows:
- Hero Image: Grand Overview
- Objective: Impactful first impression of the main salon area.
- Execution: Wide, well-lit, straight-on shot of the primary salon space. Showcase design, layout, mood, signature elements, and unique features for a "wow" factor.
- Owner/Co-owner Portrait: Brand's Face
- Objective: Professional yet approachable introduction of the owner/co-owner, reinforcing personal connection.
- Execution: Professional, static portrait within the salon. Complementary, non-distracting background. Convey professionalism and personality; subtly hint at services or salon style.
- Detailed Shots of Equipment and Features: Quality and Uniqueness
- Objective: Highlight specific tools, equipment, and unique attributes, communicating attention to detail and service quality.
- Execution: Straight-on, sharp close-ups of equipment (styling chairs, dryers, nail stations) and unique decor. Emphasise textures, materials, and cleanliness, showing professionalism and high standards.
- Product Photography: Showcasing Offerings Professionally
- Objective: Make products desirable and professional, encouraging purchase and reinforcing brand quality.
- Execution: Products must be clean, neat, and impeccably presented (spotless bottles, forward-facing labels, perfect packaging). Use consistent lighting to minimise shadows. Group products or feature them individually against a clean, neutral background.
- Exterior Salon Photography: Location Identification and Client Welcome
- Objective: Clearly identify the salon's physical location for easy client navigation.
- Execution: Clear, well-lit exterior shots including the main entrance, signage, and surrounding area. Ensure salon name and branding are visible. Show the salon in context for navigation and neighbourhood feel. Consider day and dusk shots to show exterior lighting.
Technical Requirements for Image Submission
To ensure the highest quality and compatibility for all submitted images, please adhere to the following technical specifications. These guidelines are crucial for optimal display and integration across all our platforms.
- Resolution: Images must have a minimum resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels. This high resolution ensures clarity and sharpness, especially when images are displayed on larger screens or used for print materials.
- Minimum File Size: Each image file must be at least 5 MB in size.
- File Format: All images must be submitted in RAW format. The RAW format retains the maximum amount of image data captured by the camera sensor, allowing for greater flexibility and quality control during post-processing and editing.
- Orientation: Images should be in Landscape orientation.
- Aspect Ratio: A strict aspect ratio of 16:9 is required for all submitted images. This widescreen format is ideal for modern displays and ensures that images appear correctly proportioned without distortion or unnecessary cropping, providing a cinematic and engaging visual experience.
Image Deliverables and Editing
- Editing Requirements: No editing is required. We specifically request only the raw, unedited images from each shoot. This allows our internal team to maintain a consistent style and apply any necessary post-production.
- Image Format: Please ensure that all delivered images are in their original raw format, as captured by your camera.
- Deliverable: Photographers are expected to submit the final photos no later than 24 hours after the shoot.
Benefits
Compensation:
- Payment per Shoot: A flat rate of £/€65 per shoot (excluding VAT) will be provided for your services. This fee covers your time and expertise during the photoshoot itself.
Travel and Expenses
- Travel Expenses: Travel expenses are not covered. Photographers are responsible for their own travel costs to and from shoot locations.
- Coverage Map Review: To ensure efficient scheduling and minimise travel burdens, a coverage map will be reviewed individually with each photographer. This discussion will help determine suitable shoot locations within your practical reach.
