Purpose of the job

  • Support those who have been out of work for longer periods might need extra help to move back into employment.The BBE employability team will break down employment barriers that could be holding people back from finding work.

  • As an Employment Advisor working on externally funded employability programmes, you will work with adult job seekers who are preparing to move into employment, helping them to identify and address the barriers that make this difficult by providing exemplary case management, including support, advice, advocacy and signposting to relevant services

  • You will provide information, advice and guidance and develop and maintain an action plan with each job seeker. You will agree a range of range activities with the job seeker to enable and inspire them to achieve sustained employment alongside non-employment progression measures, including improving wellbeing, self-confidence and level of independence.
  • Where a contract requires, you will deliver support by using both models of Supported Employment; Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF).

  • You will work in partnership with a wide variety of local agencies, partners, employers and colleagues within the team to provide the best support to individuals.

Principal accountabilities

Implementation

  • To manage a high volume or complex caseload and deliver the job search process for new and existing clients to support them into sustainable employment ensuring that appropriate evidence is captured.
  • To support and motivate clients in their job search activities including, benefits and economic assessments developing realistic individual action plans relating to work and pre-employment training and offering a range of job search support courses that may increase employability.
  • To support local recruitment needs including jobs fairs, employer open days, outreach events, redundancy projects delivered on and off-site.
  • To deliver employability support under the IPS and SEQF models to both clients and employers adhering to the Fidelity Scales as set within the Fidelity Assurance System and working to the place and train model to ensure clients job start needs are met.
  • To organise and co-ordinate employment interviews and referrals for training as necessary to help individuals access sustainable employment.
  • To develop and maintain understanding of Government initiatives around supporting disengaged, socially and economically excluded clients in order to work with colleagues to develop appropriate and effective support to meet Government objectives.
  • To develop and deliver workshops covering a range of areas including introduction to the service, CV preparation and maintenance, interview techniques, completing application forms, job clubs and other thematic workshops.

nt Technical Experienceand Knowledge

Proven substantial experience of:

  • Working in a recruitment or employment advisory environment having supported individuals to achieve employment goals using client action plans.

  • A knowledge of the Welfare to Work benefits system.

  • Using ICT packages - good knowledge of the Windows and Microsoft Office Suite packages together with an ability to understand and use databases.

We are looking for Employability Specialists to work with clients, health professionals, service providers and employers to support people back into employment.

The Role:   As an Employment Specialist, you will be focused on making sure a person’s journey into employment, with associated improved social inclusion and wellbeing is as easy as possible.

  • You will work remote and in the community with clients (managing a caseload) who have a range of needs and assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences.
  • If you are a confident communicator who has worked in a customer facing or person centred role and want to make a real difference to people across West London, then we want to hear from you.

The ideal candidate will:
•    Be an excellent and confident communicator, with the ability to deal with a range of stakeholders
•    Have experience/understanding of working with people with health conditions /disabilities, substance misuse needs, or a similar client group within health, social services or the voluntary sector
•    Have experience of working with someone on a one-to-one basis 
•    Have proven experience of meeting and exceeding outcomes and targets 
•    Have experience of managing multiple tasks at any one time

These services integrate health recovery with employment support to create a holistic pathway for individuals. These Employment Advisors will play a key role in supporting individuals facing difficulties in the workplace due to physical health conditions, helping them return to work, remain in work, or find new employment. The role involves working in partnership with in-house medical practitioners, GP practices, and other referral partners in a community environments.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Client Support

  • Manage a diverse caseload (20-40 maximum), providing information, advice, and guidance to clients facing workplace challenges.
  • Conduct holistic initial assessments, identify barriers, and co-produce action plans to help clients achieve employment and health goals.
  • Provide employment coaching, including career guidance, CV building, interview techniques, and job search support.
  • Advocate for clients with employers, negotiating reasonable adjustments and solutions to workplace challenges.
  • Refer clients to appropriate health, welfare, and employment services for additional support.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant electronic client records.

Collaboration & Partnership Working

  • Work closely with a Multidisciplinary Clinical Team, ensuring a seamless participant journey aligned with individual needs.
  • Build strong relationships with referral partners, including GPs, MSK teams, and social prescribers, to grow referrals and promote employment as a recovery tool.
  • Develop partnerships with employers to support individuals in overcoming workplace barriers.
  • Identify and establish links with training providers, colleges, and employment services to support client career progression.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience managing a caseload of clients with health and employment-related barriers.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients, employers, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable customer service and coaching experience.
  • Awareness of safeguarding practices for young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a target-driven environment.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Willingness to travel across North London.
