I'm currently recruiting for a Permanent Gas Combustion Engineer (non-domestic) to work across the Edinburgh and Borders area on a schools contract. This is a site-based role, covering approximately 20 sites, and working alongside a team of experienced engineers.
Key Details:
- Location: Edinburgh/Borders
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Salary: 41,800 per annum
- Vehicle: Company van provided (full UK driving licence required)
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for maintaining heating systems across multiple educational facilities, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. The position will involve both routine and non-routine maintenance, fault finding, and working with a variety of plant equipment including gas appliances, boilers, heating plant, pumps, and ventilation systems. Some minor plumbing work will also be required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Routine and reactive maintenance of heating systems and associated plant
- Fault diagnosis and repair of gas appliances and commercial boilers
- Identifying life-expired equipment and recommending replacements
- Inspections, testing, and risk assessments
- Working to statutory compliance requirements and safety standards
- Occasional work at height and in all weather conditions
- Minor plumbing tasks where necessary
Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence
- Relevant commercial gas qualifications : COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A, CODNCO1, CGGA1, CIGA1, CENWAT1
- Proven experience servicing and repairing industrial/commercial boilers and appliances
- Strong technical knowledge with proven fault-finding skills
- Plumbing experience beneficial

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
