Graphic Artist
to source, design and produce compelling, innovative news graphics.
This role is
part time, 3 days per week
including regular rota-ed weekend shifts.
Examples of the sort of work you would be a part of :
- Making quick turnaround static graphics for news stories of visual guides, such as our guide to aid in Gaza or the Baltimore bridge collapse
- Creating impactful charts for breaking stories like budgets and elections and data driven stories with a longer lead time, such as this explainer on the state of the rental sector
- Producing eye-catching, technical drawings for schematics or annotated diagrams, and think creatively about the use of satellite imagery such as on our immersive satellite exploration of the Gaza strip
- Using geodata to create insightful custom maps like this one plotting Musk's private jet flights and this on deforestation in South America
About The Role
- Interpret briefs to create innovative graphics that evidence, explain and contextualise issues at the heart of breaking news stories.
- Design and produce a variety of visuals such as charts, explainer diagrams, illustrations, maps and annotated satellite images.
- Collaborate with journalists and researchers, championing the role of graphics in the newsroom and safeguarding best practices.
- Anticipate visuals that might add value to emerging stories and look for opportunities to tell stories using innovative visual formats.
About You
- You'll have a deep knowledge of visual journalism, with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to create effective data-driven graphics for digital and print platforms.
- Experience working at pace for a busy website or publication, ideally in the production of breaking news.
- Good understanding of typography and the use of scale, weight and space in composition.
- A good grasp of data visualisation best practices including the relative effectiveness of different chart types.
- Ideally you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role

As Frive's Creative Lead/ Producer you'll be the driving force behind our in-house creative team, freelancers and agency partners - managing briefs from our Brand and Growth teams, to create high-impact creative across paid ad channels (inc. Meta, TikTok, YouTube), Branded content (social, merch design) and owned channels (Frive app, website, packaging, CRM etc).
This role combines creative strategy and content production to develop high-impact marketing campaigns, driving brand awareness and customer engagement. - Adapt global guidelines for campaign artworks to ensure consistency during rollout in UK.
- Artwork and manage the submission process of UK print media advertising campaigns.
- Develop UK specific artwork & campaigns around local events & sponsorships.
- Work with agencies on the briefing and delivery of local retail, sponsorship & PR events
- Produce large scale artworks for commercial spaces, out of home advertising and events.
- Work with the Digital team to create artwork for email advertising campaigns & ensure UK trade website content/imagery meets global guidelines.
- Support the Trade & Retail Marketing Manager with varying creative requirements.
- Create and manage store film rollout for different screen sizes and resolutions.

Strong proficiency in Adobe CC suite (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator) Advanced knowledge of IT packages: Windows Office Excel, PowerPoint and Word. The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Creative Lead to spearhead our in-house Brand Creative team. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining and elevating the visual identity of our brand and marketing efforts, ensuring consistency, innovation, and strategic impact across all touchpoints.
You will be a hands-on leader, and an exceptional designer, capable of inspiring and guiding a talented team to produce outstanding work that resonates with our audiences. Working closely with the Creative Director you will have the opportunity to help shape and grow much-loved kids' brands. You'll have the opportunity to work on marketing campaigns, brand identities, game and app launches, music releases and more. The role is suited to someone with broad creative experience in both print and digital.
Reponsibilities
Strategy
- Help develop and champion the overarching creative vision and strategy for all brand and marketing design initiatives.
- Establish and maintain high creative standards, ensuring all output is on-brand, visually stunning, and meets strategic goals.
- Focus on leading specific campaigns, ensuring creative excellence and impact.
- Translate business objectives into compelling creative solutions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design and marketing to keep our brand at the forefront.
- Help define design systems, principles, and long-term brand evolution.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of talented designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and professional development opportunities to help team members grow.
- Manage workload, allocate resources effectively, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Conduct performance reviews and support the career progression of team members.
- Champion a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement within the design team.
Hands-on Design & Execution
- Act as a lead designer on key projects, demonstrating exceptional design skills and craftsmanship.
- Oversee the end-to-end design process, from concept development and ideation to final execution and delivery.
- Directly involved in the conceptualisation and execution of major marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Develop and refine brand guidelines, ensuring consistent application across all channels.
- Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, articulating rationale and incorporating feedback effectively.
- Drive the creation of comprehensive brand assets.
Collaboration
- Partner closely with Marketing, and other internal teams to understand their needs and deliver impactful design solutions.
- Collaborate with external agencies or freelancers when necessary, managing relationships and ensuring quality output.
- Effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to non-design stakeholders.
- Sign off on third-party and partner designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or Graphic Communication.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in design, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role within an in-house creative team or agency.
- A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional design thinking, a diverse range of projects (brand and marketing focus), and a proven track record of delivering impactful creative solutions.
- Experience developing visual identities and logo design.
- Strong experience in concepting and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma/Sketch).
- Solid understanding of branding principles, marketing strategies, and user-centred design.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex design concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of designers.
- Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills:
