Spire St Anthony Hospital is looking for a Bank Hand Therapist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Physio team on a flexible working basis, covering sickness, annual leave and busy periods.
Founded in 1904, Spire St Anthony's Hospital delivers care through skilled and dedicated staff working together. With a completed 27m development investment, we provide very high quality healthcare to patients around Sutton, Epsom, Surrey and South London. We have six operating theatres covering a wide range of specialities and procedures.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To provide a high standard of specialist hand therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients within the physiotherapy department
- Potential for development of Advanced Practice role supported by specialist hand and wrist consultant
- Management of conditions such as Trapeziectomy, Fasciotomy, Tendon repairs, joint replacements
- Provision of holistic hand therapy care including wound management and provision of custom made splints for hand and wrist pathologies
- Discuss, agree and explain responsibilities for the therapy assessment of patients, including their needs and any associated risks
- Using clinical reasoning skills develop treatment plans that are appropriate to the patient taking into consideration their physiotherapy care, risks and wellbeing.
Who we're looking for:
- Degree (BSc Hons in Physiotherapy) or equivalent
- HCPC registered
- Previous experience is essential in specialist hand therapy role
- Experience of assessing, diagnosing and treating specialist hand cases

About the Role
Responsible for managing an Occupational Therapy team, ensuring that children, young people, and families in need of potential housing adaptations or re-housing support, receive high quality assessment and relevant support and intervention, identifying and developing solutions to meet needs.
Supporting the Service Manager/Head of Service in the continual development, delivery and review of the Occupational Therapy services for children and young people, ensuring that access to own housing and facilities are maximised and that appropriate recommendations are made to 3rd party bodies to enable this to happen.
Responsible for ensuring that all relevant County policies and procedures are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these policies.
Responsible for effective management of the team’s budget and recommendations for spending of other public funds (Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG). Deferred Interest Loans and DFG top up funding.
Provide Occupational Therapy advice relating to housing adaptations to other members of staff and provide lead OT role for Children's Housing OT service, advise OCC on matters relating to service provision and also provide professional advice to external agencies in relation to Children's housing adaptations.
