Join a developer of the next generation of photonic networks, at their state-of-the-art facility near the South Devon Coast.
We are seeking a Hardware Design Engineer with a strong background in analogue, digital and power supply design.
You will play a key role in designing, simulating, and verifying a wide range of circuits for high-speed optical transceiver products used in cutting edge, optical switching networks for power efficient and performance optimised AI/ML applications.
You will work in a multidisciplinary team to develop optimal solutions across the product architecture and physical design.
Responsibilities:
- Hardware design of mixed signal circuits to control Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs).
- Perform circuit / layout simulations including signal / power integrity analysis.
- Develop and execute test plans for hardware validation, integration and verification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware integration issues at the board and system levels.
- Documentation and change management of design, build and test specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on hardware architecture decisions.
- Supplier / CEM engagement during hardware design, bring-up and production support.
- Hands on lab work including practical testing and product validation.
Experience:
You should have at least 5 years hands on experience in design and verification of electronic solutions. Including schematic capture, analog / RF simulation and PCB Layout.
Ideally you will also have experience with lab equipment, such as; spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, VNAs, and signal generators; have proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence); and a familiarity with embedded systems and firmware debugging.
Qualifications:
A Degree (BEng / MEng / PhD) in Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.
Additional Information:
Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested.
Candidates MUST be prepared to work onsite 5 days per week.

The Role
Reporting to the Technical Director, as a Hardware Design Engineer, you will support the development of new board level products using the latest (often pre-release) components to deliver market driving products.
