We are proud to be partnering with a truly unique organisation which is building a large development in the Cambridge area dedicated to medical research.
About the Position
The organisation is looking for a Head of Legal to support and lead on the development. The position will manage all legal matters for the project, which will largely relate to real estate development and construction. Along with the initial development work will be the leasing of all the building on the site and subsequent asset management responsibilities.
You will also take on some more generalist legal matters as well as the governance and company secretarial function.
The organisation is in a growth phase and the position will suit and individual who is looking to really part of a project, roll up their sleeves and really get involved. As a result, you will be part of the future of medical research and be making a contribution to healthcare and medical advances.
About You
This is a unique opportunity for a real estate lawyer with development experience to be part of a long-term development project. Key will be construction and real estate development experience, as well as related leasing, sales and acquisitions experience.
The position will suit a real estate lawyer who is competent with real estate work and who is open to taking on more generalist legal work. You will also have the opportunity to be the company secretary (previous experience in this is not essential but an interest and willingness to take this on and really be part of the running of this development key.)

Scope of RoleReporting to our Group Financial Officer, we are looking for a Head of Legal to join our London office on part-time 3 days per week, 1 year fixed term basis, focusing on managing the team and partnering with finance and sales on commercial contract negotiations.
As a Head of Legal, you will:- Be a trusted adviser and partner, dealing with all legal aspects of the business and providing guidance and counsel for accomplishing ITRS’ overall goals.
- Manage the legal function by providing a vision and goals aligned to ITRS OKR's; by providing support, oversight and empowerment of the Senior Legal Counsel, by working with external legal and other advisers to ensure that the ITRS receives the best possible advice.
- Support sales and procurement function by managing ITRS suite of templates, legal agreements (including software licencing, partnerships and managed services agreements) and by negotiating contracts and schedules with ITRS’s customers, partners and suppliers.
- Support the business on all legal matters, as point of escalation for all legal issues arising across the ITRS; by assisting with compliance and risk mitigation, by working with external counsel across the jurisdictions ITRS group operates.
- Work with the finance team by assisting with pension, insurance, company secretarial, business licences queries, compliance and risk mitigation.
- Provide oversight of ITRS company secretarial function by working with the providers of company secretarial services to ensure the group companies remain compliant with local laws and regulations.
Requirements
To be successful we are looking for the following experience and attributes:
- Qualified solicitor with at least 8 years PQE and proven experience in general commercial law. Experience of software/technology and the financial services industry would be an advantage.
