The successful candidate will play a crucial leadership role in overseeing the Risk function, ensuring robust risk management practices are embedded across the business, and providing strategic oversight to all risk-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management framework covering all internal and external risks.

About the role:
About the role
Reporting directly to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, the Head of Risk will be responsible for establishing and embedding an enhanced enterprise-wide risk management framework and leading the Moneyfarm risk management strategy across all areas of the business, including financial, operational, regulatory, and technology risks.
The Head of Risk will partner with senior management and work closely with the executive team and Board to understand and quantify business risks, as well as working with Compliance to understand existing and emerging regulatory risks, to ensure robust governance and proactive risk management as we expand our business.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Leadership & Strategy
- Define and implement the company’s enterprisewide risk management framework and policies
- Work with the Board to set risk appetite.
- Act as the primary advisor to senior leadership on all risk-related matters.
- Develop a strong risk culture across the organisation.
Governance & Oversight
- Lead the risk function, including second line of defence oversight of operational, conduct, and financial risks.
- Actively participate in Risk Committees and support the Board Risk Committee.
- Report regularly to the Executive and Board on key risks and emerging issues.
- Lead the risk review for ICARA reporting.
Regulatory & Compliance Risk
- Ensure the firm’s risk management practices comply with FCA, Bank of Italy, CONSOB and other relevant regulatory standards.
- Work closely with Compliance and Legal teams to manage regulatory obligations.
- Prepare for regulatory reviews, audits, and inspections.
Controls Management
- Establish, embed and oversee controls a new controls management framework.
- Work with Control Managers to ensure controls are periodically tested; where possible this should be automated.
Operational & Technology Risk
- Oversee operational risk management, including incident reporting, business continuity, and outsourcing/vendor oversight.
- Monitor technology, data protection, and cyber security risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Understand artificial intelligence risks relevant to digital wealth management and the Moneyfarm business and, where possible, utilise artificial intelligence for risk management activities.
Requirements
- Significant experience in risk management within fintech, digital wealth/asset management, or financial services essential.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU regulatory frameworks (FCA, Bank of Italy, ESMA, MiFID II).
- Proven ability to design, build or lead a risk function in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience with operational and technology risk, ideally within a digital-first business model. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at Board and regulator level.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
