Choice Teachers are assisting a number of secondary schools in the Chorley/Leyland/Wigan areas who are looking for long term teaching assistants for the new academis year starting September 2026. Many roles will be until at least Christmas, many will be potentially til the end of the academic year.

We anticipate having more teaching assistant requests at these schools in September when the schools re open. We are looking to recruit good quality TA's in order to meet the demand of requests we anticipate coming in. School days general start at 8.30 and finish around 3.15pm with between 30-60 min lunch.

We are looking to recruit staff with either a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 1-3), someone educated to degree level who wants experience in schools who may want to pursue a career in education, or people who have worked in other childcare sectors such as residential care.

To excel in this role, you should
  • Be comfortable working the classroom, managing a classroom and ensuring learners stay on task.
  • Able to create a positive learning environment has good and strong classroom management
  • Able to provide support to learners
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Be confident and enthusiastic with a passion for teaching
  • Adaptable, flexible, be able to work at short notice and get to schools quickly
  • Be able to manage large groups of students, some of whom may display challenging behaviour
  • Be able to work on your own initiative
  • Have an excellent level of spoken english and understanding of english.
